From the moment Bloodwood opened on South King Street in 2010 it didn’t just serve great food and drink, it helped shape the soul of the Newtown–Enmore dining scene. Head chef and owner Claire Van Vuuren’s commitment to seasonal produce, small suppliers and genuine hospitality has influenced countless venues across the precinct. From iconic share plates to a constantly evolving wine list, Bloodwood remains a benchmark for what thoughtful, community-led dining looks like in the Inner West.

We dive deeper into Bloodwood’s story in the latest issue of TOWNMAG, exploring how its values, people and longevity continue to define our neighbourhood. Pick up a copy around the precinct and spend time with the stories that make Newtown and Enmore what they are.

TOWNMAG is produced by the Newtown Enmore Business Community (NEBC) to celebrate local businesses, culture and creativity. Become a member to support independent storytelling in the precinct, or advertise in the magazine to connect with a highly engaged local audience that truly cares about this place.

Bold flavours, warm hospitality and an unmistakable energy have made Little Lagos one of Enmore Road’s most loved spots. Founded by Ade, this West African restaurant is as much about culture and connection as it is about food. The menu celebrates Nigerian flavours with pride, while the space itself pulses with music, conversation and community.

Little Lagos has become a place where people gather, linger and feel welcome. It reflects the soul of the Inner West. Independent, expressive and built on passion. From long lunches to late nights, it’s a reminder that great local businesses don’t just serve customers, they create belonging.

Stories like this are what we love to share.

If you run a local business or creative project and want your story told, become a member of the Newtown Enmore Business Community. Membership gives you the chance to be featured on newtown.sydney, in TOWNMAG and across the precinct.

Late last year we packed out Rising Sun Workshop for the launch of Townmag Issue Two, bringing together around 100 local business members for a night of good food and even better conversations. A special collab between Rising Sun and Clem’s Chicken delivered some unreal chicken tender baos and plenty of other tasty bites that kept the energy high all night.

Hosted by Rodney Todd and opened with a Welcome to Country by Uncle Allen, the night was all about connection, community and celebrating the people who make our local scene what it is.

Townmag Issue Two is out now. Get your hands on a copy and dive in.

TELL YOUR STORY --- Located on Edgeware Road, Newtown Fertility Centre is more than just a clinic. Opened in 2024, this space was created by certified fertility specialist Dr Natasha Andreadis, who wanted a warm, welcoming environment for her patients.

For her, the location holds a deeply personal meaning. It's on the very street where her Greek migrant parents met in 1968, with her mother's first Australian job just around the corner. The clinic is a powerful homage to their fierce work ethic and the vibrant community they found here.
