Not long now! We're busy behind the scenes prepping for a fun, free and family-friendly Community Day next weekend!

Everyone is welcome - enjoy the sausage sizzle, competitions, interactive displays and other fun activities. Come for a few hours and learn more about our operations and some of the ways we're partnering with the community for the future.

9am - 1pm Saturday 24 October at Nhulunbuy Town Hall!

Did you know eligible community groups and not-for-profit organisations can receive a 22% discount on their electricity and water charges? This is sometimes called the benevolent rate and it was introduced in 2025.

Interested groups can apply for the concession via the NCL website. We'll also post a link in the comments.

We get such joy from partnering with community organisations, like the Families as First Teachers (FaFT) program in Yirrkala!

With their Rio Tinto Gove Community Giving Grant, staff and families worked together to identify the right resources to support children’s learning both in the classroom and on Country, as well as extra resources for parents and families.

It’s lovely to see these kids enjoying their new educational toys and tools!

Our talented colleague, Dr Ainul Aziz admits she already felt blessed to be named as a finalist in this year’s Women in Resources National Awards, but receiving a Highly Commended in the Woman in Resources Technological Innovation category filled her with pride.

A woman of deep Muslim faith working in a male-dominated mining environment she has faced challenges being culturally and visibly different but over time earned credibility for her technical ability to translate science into real-world environmental outcomes.

“I am proud of myself. Most importantly I am blessed with support from family and friends from within work and social cycles that have supported me along the way. Being acknowledged with the award means that the effort that I have put in the work is meaningful. Looking back, I am doing right thing in the right place.”

Fellow National Awards finalist Alex Dandie – in the Exceptional Woman in Australian Resources category - was also recognised on stage at the Melbourne awards ceremony on Monday night, and they were joined by our General Manager, Engineering Superintendent Lauren and our Chief Executive Iron Ore and Australia.

Congratulations Ainul! Thanks to you and Alex for your exceptional leadership. And, thanks to all those who support women to bring their best selves to work every day - helping build a stronger, more inclusive and innovative workplace for us all.

On Saturday night we celebrated the commitment of some really special team members. And, the support, encouragement, sacrifice and understanding of their families and networks.
