A 1978 Gottlieb Dragon has arrived in our workshop.
This 46yo pinball is remarkable because electronically (all circuit boards including score displays) are 100% original and have never been touched, no components replaced and the CPU board still has the factory fitted Data Sentry brand battery for retaining memory.
Not only has the battery never leaked (and they virtually all did before they were even 10yo), but not this battery, it will still take enough charge to retain its memory! That's incredible.
The whole machine is an unbelievable freak of nature.
While it has obviously had a lengthy period of storage and is in superb condition throughout, it still has had good use over the last 46yrs.
I’ve played a game, and at the very least I’ll be reconditioning the power supply because the electrolytic capacitors will be dried out/well off specifications because of age and it's likely to have numerous dry solder joints.
It's a delight to see such a lovely old machine that’s still fully operational.
It really is amazing.
