Good on our Vines Drive neighbours for getting their harvest vibes happening today. We noticed you waving and there was definitely some casual day-drinking going on while watching the harvester do laps.

A massive thank you and apology to the lovely neighbour who wandered over with an ice bucket full of cold drinks! Sorry though the tractor and harvester drivers couldn’t stop for risk of getting out of sync.

Due to lack of rain and getting smashed by birds this season, the Cabernet Sauvignon yield was dismally low. Fortunately as always, the quality is high so we’re hopeful for our usual A-grading.

Right now our little load of Cab is on its way to Penfold’s in the Barossa Valley. Hopefully like previous vintages, it finds its way into some of Australia’s most esteemed red wines. Our Cab most years ends up in Penfold’s Bin 389, aka “Baby Grange”

Attention Vines Drive Neighbours 🍇

The grape bins have just been delivered and you’ve probably noticed the nets coming off the vineyard today.

Just a heads-up and as a courtesy - it may pay to close your windows tomorrow and Friday due to potential dust.

Due to record-low rainfall, there’s almost no ground cover to help control dust. The dam is nearly empty so watering anything other than vines hasn’t been possible.

The Cabernet Sauvignon in the middle is coming off tomorrow (Tuesday) from 9am.

The rest (Shiraz and Tempranillo) we anticipate may come off this Friday.

We trust that two days a year isn’t too much to contend with - a reality of living in a rural area with spectacular vineyard views on the 363 other days.

Watching the harvester go around all day can be entertaining. If you’re home perhaps consider day-drinking and give us a wave🍷👍🏻

It’s been too hot lately, even for the guys adapted to our climate. We’re all enjoying cooler days this week and better conditions for ripening. This guy enjoyed a sun shower this morning and a nibble on some Shiraz grapes
