Mickayla Bugden pulled on the black and gold for Hop To It Collective on Sunday, walking from Burleigh Leagues Club out to Burleigh Headland and back for the 2026 Bidfood Walking with Mates for Mental Health Awareness. 💛

Clubs for a Cause started in late 2020 as a grassroots idea from Scott Robertson, Steve Edgar and Maddy Ellis, built around one message inside the club industry. It raised $42,000 for the Black Dog Institute in 2021, $47,000 for Mindfull Aus in 2022, and more than $90,000 last year. That money funds free mental health resources and programs for the people working behind the bar, on the gaming floor and in club offices across Queensland.

Our industry runs on people who spend their shifts looking after everyone else. Days like this one put the same care back the other way, and Micky came home with sore legs and a lot of new conversations.

One year ago, Mickayla Bugden joined Hop To It Collective as a Customer Success Manager. Twelve months on, she's a fixture across our client venues and one of the first people our operators pick up the phone to 🎉

Micky spent seven years at Caboolture Sports Club before joining us, covering gaming as a Gaming Supervisor, plus promotions, kids club, restaurant and bar. There aren't many corners of a club she hasn't worked in, and it shows in how quickly she reads a venue and gets to the heart of what a team is dealing with.

That depth is what makes her so effective on the customer success side. Micky builds real relationships with the venues she looks after and stays genuinely invested in whether the work is landing for them, which is the part you can't train.

Two years ago, Kate Boulton joined Hop To It Collective as a Customer Success Manager. Today she leads our Engagement department as Head of Engagement 🎉

Kate came to us from Caboolture Sports Club, where she spent close to five years working her way from Bar Attendant to Diamond Rewards Host and then Gaming Supervisor. That floor experience is exactly why our venues trust her, she knows what an operator actually needs from an engagement partner.

Since stepping up, Kate has become our specialist across loyalty, gaming, marketing and promotions, with hands-on knowledge of Max Gaming, Odyssey Gaming, TalkBox, Alveo and Brighton Technologies Group. She has also been the driving force behind member engagement work for clients right across the Collective.

Hop To It Collective is proud to be back as a Silver Sponsor of Clubs for a Cause for the 2026 Bidfood Walking with Mates for Mental Health Awareness 💙

Thank you to Steve Edgar ACCM and the Clubs for a Cause committee for inviting us to continue our support. This event has grown from a grassroots idea into one of the most meaningful days on the club industry calendar, raising more than $90,000 in 2025 to fund free mental health resources and community programs through Mindfull Aus.

This year's walk is on Sunday 30 August at Burleigh Leagues Club, with 5km and 10km options and a BBQ afterwards to connect with people from right across the club and supplier community. Our team will be there on the day and we would love to see plenty of familiar faces walking with us.

Two role opportunities have just gone live in our Creative department, and we couldn't be more excited as our team is expanding again.

The Customer Success Manager (Creative Marketing) takes the lead on social ex*****on for a portfolio of venue clients, then grows into owning the full creative delivery and the client relationship that comes with it. The Social Media Coordinator will be spending time running venue accounts, planning content, shooting it, posting it and reporting back on how it went, alongside publishing across the rest of the portfolio.

Both are Brisbane based and hybrid and both report to our Head of Creative Andrew Fisher. The work runs across community clubs, leagues clubs, hotels, RSLs, bars, a few technology brands, and a decent share of it happens on the floor in venues rather than at a desk.

Leadership from across the group came together this week for dinner at Biànca Restaurant in Fortitude Valley, and there's plenty in the works.

Our Creative department is expanding into the bar and restaurant space, with a number of new Brisbane venues coming on board across Winter 2026. Graphic design, social media strategy and management, website management, and photography and videography, all delivered by people who have actually worked in venues.

Before the first promotion goes live for a new club, our Engagement team always spends a lot of time inside the venue's numbers. Membership trends, visitation patterns, which promotions moved the needle and which only looked busy.

Our clients see fantastic, consistent month on month growth in their member apps and alot of intentionality and work goes into that. Claire Grimes is one of our Customer Success Managers here at Hop To It Collective, and is one of the talented people on our team responsible for building F&B offers, in-app games and targeted campaigns that keep club members engaged, working through Odyssey's Command Centre and NEXUS platforms.

Before she came to us, Claire spent nearly six years at Carina Leagues Club in multiple roles including Promotions and Duty Manager, a stint at Odyssey Gaming Services working across venue compliance and gaming systems, then three years as a Training Consultant with CTA Training Specialists teaching hospitality and gaming operators across Queensland. When she builds an engagement program now, it's with a working knowledge of the venue floor, the platform and the compliance framework behind it.

Her benchmark for success is a simple one: how often members open the app. Frequency of opens tells you whether an app is genuinely part of a member's routine, and it's the measure she watches to know a program is landing. Push notifications get used as a lighter touch than SMS, and new member offers bring people onto the platform from their first visit. 🙌

Sixteen months in, Claire's work sits behind some of the strongest app engagement numbers in the Australian club industry. Thanks for everything you do, Claire!

Salt Bar has passed twelve months of trading, with more locals coming through the door than at any point since opening.

The venue has since stepped into a new chapter with That Hospitality Group, and it's direction for the next stage is being set now. Customer input carries more weight when it arrives before the decisions rather than after them. Whatever comes back will be sitting in front of the team when the plan gets written.
