This week, International Graphite's Industrial Chemist, Kathy Miller, and Collie Operations Manager, Josh Hearse, welcomed students from the WA Mining Club's Get Into Mining camp to our Collie R&D Facility.

It was a great opportunity to showcase downstream graphite processing, talk about careers in critical minerals, and answer plenty of thoughtful questions from some very engaged future industry professionals.

One question sparked a lively engineering discussion...

"How many hamsters would it take to power the process plant?"

Rather than guessing, Josh did what good engineers do best and ran the numbers.

The verdict?

One 100 kVA generator requires:

🐹 200,000 hamsters running at any one time.
🐹 Around 800,000 in the workforce to cover fatigue, shift changes, annual leave and the occasional bout of unplanned wheel maintenance.

Safe to say our current power supply remains the more practical option.

A big thank you to the Western Australian Mining Club for visiting. We enjoyed sharing what we're building in Collie and hope we inspired a few future engineers, scientists and critical minerals professionals along the way.

Defence Australia's recently released 2026 Defence Industry Development Strategy reinforces the growing importance of sovereign industrial capability, resilient supply chains and advanced manufacturing. In Western Australia, continued investment in the Henderson Defence Precinct reflects this broader shift.

Advanced graphite products support a range of defence-related applications, including:

• Thermal management
• Fire protection
• Electromagnetic (EM) shielding
• Specialist lubricants
• Seals and gaskets
• Energy storage systems

The first half of 2026 has seen reach a number of significant milestones as we continue advancing our graphite processing strategy:

✔ Progressed Australia's first commercial graphite micronising facility from planning to construction readiness, with land secured, approvals received, funding locked in and the construction contract awarded.

✔ Announced a proposed joint venture with ALKEEMIA to establish an advanced graphite processing hub in Italy.

✔ Validated our downstream processing strategy through pilot-scale purification testwork, with all samples, including Springdale graphite, achieving purities above 99.9% TGC.

✔ Strengthened our commercial platform through an agreement with Wogen covering graphite concentrate supply, product sales and marketing support.

✔ Strengthened our Board with the appointments of Aidan Nania and Liam Farley, while raising capital to accelerate our Australian and European graphite processing strategy.

International Graphite has locked in the key construction contract for its commercial scale Collie Micronising Facility with Bunbury-based Prosser Built. The project will also draw on local engineering, electrical, civil and earthmoving businesses as part of 's strategy.

From construction through to operations, Proactive reports the project will create opportunities for local businesses and skilled workers, contributing to long-term investment in Collie while strengthening advanced manufacturing capability in regional Western Australia.
