PROJECT NEWS: Lockheed Martin has been selected as a Strategic Industry Partner for the development of the Australian Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Enterprise which will further strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities.

As part of this project, Lockheed Martin is seeking to identify and learn more about local capability suitable for these important endeavours.

PROJECT NEWS: Ferrovial Construction Gamuda Joint Venture (CHBTeam) has been awarded the Coffs Harbour bypass project, funded by the Australian and NSW governments.

The new bypass will significantly improve transport efficiency, saving motorists 11 minutes travel time and removing thousands of vehicles from Coffs Harbour CBD. The project is due for completion in late 2027.

Work packages under Section 10, M&E/ITS, are now available for:

- CCTV and avid system
- Fire pumps
- Deluge dryflow testing

GRANT OPPORTUNITY: The Defence Industry Development Grants Program seeks to fund local SMEs over four years as part of the wider Defence Industry Development Strategy. The program will build upon Australia’s sovereign capabilities, and greatly increase the country’s global competitiveness, technical superiority, and national security.

The four streams within the program includes Sovereign Industrial Priorities, Exports, Security, and Skilling. The grants for each stream vary, ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

Applications for the Security and Sovereign Industrial Priorities streams close on the 31st August.

EOI: The Commonwealth is seeking EOIs for a pilot fund project under the Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS), announced by the Hon. Pat Conroy, Minister for Defence Industry, earlier this year.

The new initiative will focus on engaging venture capital fund managers and investors to help fund eligible Australian businesses with Defence capabilities. Such businesses must have less than 50 employees and a technical readiness level between 3 and 7.

This opportunity seeks to financially support small and micro Australian businesses, allow them to access equity or debt products, and enable them to leverage their capabilities into Defence programs in Australia and New Zealand.

EOIs close 2nd August at 2pm.
