If AI is doing more of our work, why does work still feel so overwhelming?

The issue may not be the technology. It may be the way organisations keep creating more work around work.

Our latest opinion piece explores the productivity paradox emerging inside modern enterprises, and why the next advantage may belong to businesses that simplify before they automate.

AI promised productivity and operational relief. But many organisations are discovering that faster tools can expose deeper problems in workflow complexity, coordination and enterprise automation.

The AI opportunity is real.

But as organisations move beyond pilots and begin scaling AI across real operational workflows, a more practical question is emerging:

How do you apply AI intelligently without adding unnecessary cost, complexity or risk?

For finance, AP and document-heavy environments, the answer is rarely about putting generative AI into every step of the process.

Some workflows benefit from GenAI. Others are better suited to structured automation, machine learning or rules-based workflows.

The organisations creating real enterprise value will be the ones that understand where each approach belongs, and how to orchestrate them effectively together.

That shift is already changing how businesses think about AI governance, operational efficiency, straight-through processing and ROI.

In our latest article, we explore why intelligent automation is becoming the operational foundation for scalable enterprise AI.

As GenAI moves from pilots to high-volume enterprise workflows, organisations need a smarter way to balance AI capability, cost, governance and automation ROI.

Great conversations, practical insights and a strong turnout at the recent TechnologyOne Finance Leadership Forum in Melbourne.

Hosted by Xcellerate IT in collaboration with KPMG, the session brought together finance and transformation leaders to discuss the evolving realities of finance operations in TechnologyOne environments, particularly as organisations progress through their Ci Anywhere journeys.

As many organisations modernise core ERP platforms, the discussion highlighted an important reality: transformation extends well beyond the ERP itself. Accounts payable, approvals, reporting, visibility, governance and operational efficiency all play a critical role in achieving meaningful outcomes.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion, and especially to Raaj Sangani from KPMG for sharing valuable perspectives on finance transformation and the Ci Anywhere journey.

At Xcellerate IT, we’ve spent more than 20 years working alongside TechnologyOne customers across Australia, helping organisations improve finance operations through automation, process optimisation and practical transformation strategies. It was fantastic to see so many leaders openly sharing experiences, challenges and ideas for what comes next.

Looking forward to continuing the conversation.

Following our recent acquisition of Process Automation Group, we’ve been focused on what this means in practice.

Bringing the two together combines PAG’s strong presence in Western Australia with Xcellerate IT’s national capability in intelligent automation.

For customers, it means broader expertise, greater delivery capacity and continued support from the teams they already know.

Last week we hosted a small executive lunch in Brisbane with Tungsten Automation and Shane Coetser from Trusenta Pty Ltd, focused on AI governance and what it takes to move from strategy to real-world deployment.

AI adoption is accelerating, but governance, data quality and oversight are still catching up.

A few themes that stood out from the discussion:

• Trusted data is not optional. It is the foundation for any AI initiative that needs to scale

• Governance needs to move at pace with adoption, not slow it down

• Unstructured data remains one of the biggest blockers, and one of the biggest opportunities

• Practical use cases like accounts payable are where many organisations are starting to see real value

Great discussion across finance, risk and technology leaders on the realities of moving AI into production.

Thanks to Howard Boretsky, Bharati Chavlekai and Shane Coetser for leading a great discussion.

Also thanks to Mark Hodder and Ricky Anwar for supporting the session, and to Trusenta Pty Ltd for bringing strong expertise on AI governance and trusted data into the conversation.

Thanks to everyone who joined us.

When you acquire a business, showing up matters.

Howard Boretsky, Managing Director of Xcellerate IT, spent last week in Perth meeting with the Process Automation Group team, including Adam Niedzwiedz and Pawel Woloski, following Xcellerate IT’s recent acquisition of Process Automation Group (PAG).

The visit also included time with several PAG clients across Western Australia, including P&N Bank, continuing relationships the PAG team has developed over many years.

Western Australia plays an important role in Xcellerate IT’s national growth. PAG’s local expertise, combined with Xcellerate IT’s broader capability, positions the combined team to support organisations across the region for the long term.

It was great to spend time in Hobart recently hosting two sessions focused on the future of intelligent automation.

Together with Tungsten Automation, we explored how organisations are transforming finance and enterprise operations through modern automation platforms, from intelligent invoice processing with InvoiceAgility to enterprise-wide process orchestration with TotalAgility.

The sessions brought together leaders from across government and industry for practical discussions, live demonstrations and roundtable conversations on how automation is reshaping finance and business operations.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussions.

Special thanks to the team who helped deliver the sessions:

👏 Alexander (Sandy) Tubbs – Xcellerate IT
👏 Joshua Craker – Tungsten Automation
👏 Feroze Jacob – Xcellerate IT

We look forward to continuing the conversations and helping more organisations unlock the value of intelligent automation.
