Bernard Rowe co-founded Ioneer (originally named Global Geoscience) in 2001 and has served as Managing Director since 2007.

He led the company through its 2007 listing on the ASX and remained at the helm as Global Geoscience became Ioneer in 2018. Today, he continues to serve as Ioneer’s Managing Director and CEO.

Rhyolite Ridge’s Stage 1 project is focused on processing searlesite-bearing lithium-boron ore.

The deposit remains open, but in addition to searlesite, there are additional lithium-boron ore types found at Rhyolite Ridge that represent future expansion opportunities beyond Stage 1. In the first half of 2026, EcoPro completed research into processing lithium-clay material found at the site. Its final report includes a process flow sheet developed with commercially feasible operating costs.

In February 2026, the U.S. State Department gathered representatives from 54 countries and the European Commission to answer that question. No single country can supply the metals inside batteries, solar panels, and steel alloys alone. At the meeting, EXIM announced that it had issued US$14.8 billion in Letters of Interest for critical minerals projects worldwide. One shared resource problem, brought to one table.

Rhyolite Ridge is already part of this broader push, supported by a US$996 million DOE loan.

Rhyolite Ridge’s Ore Reserve represents the portion of its Measured and Indicated Mineral Resource demonstrated to be economically mineable after the application of modifying factors.

The project’s Ore Reserve grew from 60 million tonnes in the 2020 Definitive Feasibility Study to 265.5 million tonnes as of October 2025—more than four times its 2020 level.

Battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide prices rose 14% in the second quarter of 2026, according to Ioneer's latest quarterly report. The company expects lithium prices to strengthen into the early 2030s as the market moves into deficit, around the same time Rhyolite Ridge is expected to begin production.

Rhyolite Ridge is expected to use approximately 4,000 acre-feet of water per year, about the same amount used by seven irrigation pivots. Because of Rhyolite Ridge ore's unique mineralogy, the majority of process water used at the site will be recycled.
