Christmas in Australia?

No snow. Baking hot. And so many flies!

An Aussie Christmas is unlike traditional Christmas.
It’s cold drinks, loud uncles, backyard cricket, and the joy of being present — even when it’s hot.

While the rest of the world is dreaming of a white Christmas, I’m over here swatting insects and sweating b*lls!

What does “be authentic” actually mean?

We hear it all the time: “Be authentic!”
But what does that look like in real life?

Here’s how I see it.

I filmed this on the streets of London. It was one degree, my nose was running, my lips were cracked… and in that moment, I had two choices: hide it or call it out.

I called it out – snotty nose and all. I said what was real.

That’s authenticity, not about being polished, perfect or performative. It’s about being relatable, human, honest.

I believe when we show up as we are, we build trust. And when we build trust, we connect.
That’s the whole point of communication to make people feel something real.

Whether you’re on stage, in a meeting, or posting online, authenticity isn’t a strategy. It’s a choice to be yourself, especially when it’s uncomfortable.

Why would someone with a stutter choose to become a public speaker?

Most people run from their fears.
I chose to speak straight into mine.

My name is Shil.

I have a stutter, and I speak on stages around the world.

In 2021 a Perth Film Director, Scott Quayle produced a short documentary sharing the story behind my journey.

It’s a story about pursuing my ambition, what it’s cost me, and why I keep going - not to prove something to others, but to show what’s possible when you face your hardest challenge every day and choose to keep showing up.

Why John McNeill made complex ideas feel simple.

I sat in a presentation from John McNeill, the former President of Tesla. A man whose calm presence and clarity turned complexity into clarity.

He’s not flashy. He doesn’t rely on theatrics.

What he does is far more powerful.
He speaks with intention.
He frames ideas simply.
He tells stories.

What stayed with me were three simple but powerful rules he used:
1. Simplify everything.
2. Question everything.
3. Be relentless in your pursuit.

Watching him taught me that speaking isn’t about showing off knowledge.
It’s about building connection.
It’s about making others understand with ease, calm, and authenticity.

I often wonder:
