The rose-blooming season has begun! 🌹

So what better time to share my Rose Bowl greeting card, which was the very first greeting card I photographed featuring roses from my own garden.

I love this time of year and also love being able to bring a little piece of the garden into my creative work. Even better is turning it into a card that someone else can send, share or simply keep to enjoy.

It’s a little bit of spring garden loveliness, captured forever. 🌿

The Rose Bowl card is available in the Chookapeck online shop, and it is blank inside and ready for your own handwritten message.

And remember FREE local pickup/delivery is always available on my greeting cards.

I feel remiss that it’s already August 10, and I haven’t yet picked any roadside blossom.

Each year, from mid-July the first trees to blossom are the roadside almonds. Wild-grown by birds dropping seed (I assume), these trees turn our local backroads into confetti-strewn wonderlands on windy days.

We certainly had wind and wild weather over the weekend, and if I want to pick some pretty blossoms for a vase at home, I need to get moving!

If you know a blossom lover, the Almond Blossom greeting card celebrates the start of the season. It’s perfect for a thank you, some well wishes, or a birthday - with a just blooming bough, photographed in soft, natural light.

There’s nothing subtle about these striking aloe blooms.

Each winter they put on one of nature’s most unexpected displays, with fiery orange flowers that brighten the landscape and draw nectar-feeding birds from far and wide.

But picked from a roadside, taken home and photographed in soft natural light, it’s a little reminder that beauty often arrives at the times we least expect.

And now the Aloe Aloe Aloe Greeting Card is here to brighten your winter. It’s blank inside, ready for your own words, whether it’s a birthday, thank you, or simply a note to cheer someone’s day.

NEW GREETING CARD | Last post at the Parrot Hill PO

Some places have a way of stopping you in your tracks.

This photograph captures the old Parrot Hill Post Office in the Barossa Valley just as a storm rolled in, with dark, dramatic skies creating the perfect backdrop for this beautiful piece of local history.

I love photographing the places that tell the story of our landscape, with buildings that have stood the test of time and quietly remind us of the people and communities that came before us.

This newest addition to the Chookapeck greeting card collection is blank inside, ready for your own message, and is just as lovely framed as it is sent.

Do you have a favourite historic building? I'd love to know where I should photograph next.

Is there a flower that says winter is almost over quite like an old-fashioned jonquil? 💛

Several varieties have burst into bloom this week, but a favourite is this heritage double-petalled variety.

Yes, they’re distinctly fragranced, but I find them nostalgic and impossible to walk past without picking a bunch - they’re one of the season’s most-loved blooms.

I love them so much that I’ve turned them into a greeting card, so you can enjoy their beauty long after the last flower has faded.

Whether you’re sending birthday wishes, a heartfelt thank you, or just a little note to brighten someone’s day, the Jonquil Basket Greeting Card is a beautiful way to celebrate the season.

Do you have old-fashioned jonquils blooming in your garden this winter?

✨ New for April ✨

Introducing Numéro 3, the newest addition to my French Door greeting card series 🇫🇷🚪

Captured while wandering some historic back lanes, this beautiful door offered a glimpse into Strasbourg life, and I just had to capture that moment of sunshine.

That moment has been turned into a greeting card, ready to be shared for birthdays, thank yous, or just because.

Numéro 3 is the fourth card in my French door series, and they’re all now available on my website.

behind the scenes…

When the light is right, and the garden is giving up the goods, it’s time to bring out the camera and capture all those delicate details. The textures, the colours, the little imperfections that make each flower unique.

And often, what starts as capturing some home grown flowers doesn’t stay that way for long. Sometimes these images go on to become greeting cards, carrying a little piece of my garden out into the world.

After picking a few blooms, I usually photograph them in the corner of my bedroom, right next to a big window where there’s plenty of natural light.

I’m trying to get in the habit of photographing with the ‘big’ camera (Canon RP) and then also using my iPhone to snap some images or video that I can use on stories and reels. Luckily my Manfrotto tripod holds both camera and phone so it saves thinking about shooting from the same spot etc.

Scroll though for a peek at my basic setup

This card is ‘William Morris Rose’ and is available on my website. Link in comments.

Wholesale order enquiries also welcome - please send a DM.
