Vale Paul Pritchett
1979-2026
Today our industry lost an incredible ally.
Paul had a lifelong interest in alternative housing and green technologies, so when he was introduced to the Tiny House industry in 2021, he immediately jumped at the chance to get involved.
After learning of the challenges of securing finance for Tiny Houses, Paul launched Great Escape Finance for the specific purpose of assisting the Tiny House sector to secure buyer finance.
Paul spent the following years banging down the doors of every bank, credit union and finance company, spending long days away from his own family, often missing important events and birthdays with the goal of allowing others to house themselves in Tiny Houses.
His tenacity saw him strike industry-changing deals not only in the finance space, but also the closely linked insurance space.
Many of you have likely seen or met Paul at one of the Tiny Homes Expos, during the two years between 2022-24 when he travelled the country emceeing the speaker hall at over a dozen expos. He also emceed the inaugural Tiny House Industry Awards in 2023.
His dark humour elicited many a chuckle from the audience, and his ability to pull absolute chaos together into something worth listening to was unmatched.
In 2024, Paul was also appointed to the role of treasurer with the Australian Tiny House Association, always looking for new ways to contribute to this industry.
The role was short-lived as his health deteriorated and he received the diagnosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme IDH wild type methelated in June 2024, a cancer so uncommon his doctors knew very little about it.
During his short but intense battle with the disease, Paul became incredibly frustrated with the lack of available information and visibility for this and other less common types of cancer.
Never one to wallow, Paul founded the Cancer 24 Foundation, dedicated to providing other cancer sufferers with readily available information and support relevant to their own cancer.
While only in the very early stages of its inception, we will assist wherever we can to grow Paul’s vision into a legacy that outlives us all.
On a personal note, it’s been an honour and privilege to be Paul’s friend for over 15 years. He was one of the last true gentlemen, and an incredibly supportive and knowledgeable mentor to both myself and many business owners working in the Tiny House space.
Paul leaves behind his three great loves- wife Stacey, and young daughters Gemma and Ashlyn.
The world is a little dimmer without his infectious positivity and passion.
We will share end of life celebration details when available.
