Pruning is complete for another year at Heifer Station!

Winter is when we set the vines up for everything that comes next. Cane pruning means selecting the strongest canes from last season’s growth and leaving the buds that will produce this season’s new shoots and fruit. It helps us manage yield, encourage healthy growth and give the fruit the best chance of ripening evenly.

It’s a meticulous, hands-on job, vine by vine, row by row. Luckily, our legendary pruning team make it look easy.
