Caroline Smith - Jackadder Business Consulting

Caroline Smith - Jackadder Business Consulting As a Profit Strategist, I guide small business owners to find and leverage the profits in their business using the Profit First System.

Jackadder Business Consulting has been my primary way to support businesses to understand and keep better control of the financial aspects of their business. The way I work with many business owners is divided into three main stages.

>> First we work together to analyse - this includes review and understanding of the current situation a business is in and where is believes it should be.

>> Seco

ndly, we move into the strategy stage. As a natural strategist my role is to take the analysis and evidence and then to assist you to get clearer on your future vision, identify the potential in your business and then begin defining a personalised implementation plan.

>> Thirdly, we move into the stage where you get to understand what can happen to move forward in your business. In this stage, translation, we spend time together where I share the plan with you, ascertain your understanding and identify the steps to take in an action plan. All of this includes education and support and can progress to ongoing consultancy for you and your business, including support to implement the Profit First system into your business. In addition, my small professional team are able to assist with business financial support including, but not limited to;

Bookkeeping, financial system setup, training and consultancy. Reckon Accounts Professional Partner - Consultant,
Reckon Accounts Accredited Bookkeeper,
Certified Xero Consultant,
Certified Xero Payroll Specialist,
Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.

It's celebration time at Jackadder!

This is me, 60 years ago today, first day in Australia!

We have bunny hopped in a propeller driven plane from London to the east coast of USA, where we circled for two hours because Lyndon Johnson was at the airport and we couldn't land until he was gone (air sickness bags required). From there to Los Angeles, then Hawaii, then on to Sydney.

In the photo, we are trying to stay awake until Dad's cousin picked us up so we could cram 11 people, two cats and one dog into a three bedroom house in Jerilderie, of Ned Kelly fame.

That lasted three months before Dad got a job in a medical practice and we moved to Albury. But they reneged on the deal to take Mum on if Dad worked out after six months, so it was on to Hamilton in Victoria. Same thing happened and so my parent's bought their own practice and we moved to Redcliffe in Queensland, our fifth school in less than two years! Fortunately that worked out.

There were many culture shocks along the way! Mum had it the brunt of it. Women weren't supposed to work once they were married and particularly not with four kids in tow. Men wouldn't shake hands with women, so Mum was often left stranded with her hand out. When she did get to work, she had a patient that came from over 50 miles away to see her.

My biggest problem was that although we had moved to an English speaking country, with the different colloquialisms and the strange (to me) accents, I often didn't know what people were saying to me.

It took a bit of getting used to, but I am very glad my parents made that decision to move here!

5 ways to make more profit part 5 😉

There are several strategies that businesses can use to increase their profits

5️⃣ Improve customer retention

Customer retention is an essential aspect of increasing profits. Repeat customers are more profitable than new customers because they require less marketing and are more likely to purchase additional products or services

How can you create nurturing, long term relationships with your clients?

Do you know the average value of both your short and long term clients?

Let me know if you’ve ever explored the last question?

Overall, businesses can increase their profits by implementing a combination of these strategies while considering their unique market and competition

5 ways to make more profit part 4!

There are several strategies that businesses can use to increase their profits

4️⃣ Diversify

Diversifying the products or services offered can help businesses tap into new markets and revenue streams. This can include expanding into related industries or creating complementary products or services

This is something to be done with consideration, belief and trust. Whilst it can be a great way to increase sales and therefore increase profits also remember “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should!”

I have heard my business coach say that to people for years. And she’s right! You could end up significantly increasing your expenses chasing a possibility. Be savvy. Do your research. Make an informed decision with confidence and certainty

How are you with regards to diversity in your business? I’d love to know

5 ways to make more profit, part 3 😊

There are several strategies that businesses can use to increase their profits

3️⃣ Raise your prices

Increasing prices is a simple way to increase profits, but it must be done carefully to ensure it’s fair and equitable for your clients and reflective of your experience and expertise

Researching the market and competition can help determine if raising prices is a viable option

But don’t let these be the only things influencing your decisions on pricing. You may find a lot of your competitors are under charging for their services and not pricing profitably. Changing your prices of leaving as is based on your competitor review won’t support your profit

How are you with regards to pricing right now? I’d love to know
