🪳 You killed the cockroach. Problem solved, right?

Not quite.

A single female German cockroach can produce an egg case (ootheca) containing 30–40 eggs — and she carries it until just before hatching, making it nearly impossible to kill with surface sprays.

Here's the maths:
→ One female → 5–6 egg cases in her lifetime
→ Each case → up to 40 eggs
→ Nymphs mature in 6–12 weeks
→ One cockroach in January can mean hundreds by March

Over-the-counter sprays kill what they touch. They don't break the breeding cycle.

Effective cockroach treatment targets the whole population — adults, nymphs, and eggs — using gel baits, residual sprays, and knowledge of where they hide (behind fridges, inside switchboards, under dishwashers — places you'd never think to spray).

🐀 Important update for Perth homeowners — the rules around rat and mouse baits have changed.

On 10 March 2026, the APVMA suspended second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) — including brodifacoum and bromadiolone — for general residential use across Australia.

Why? Because they were killing more than just rats.

When a rat eats SGAR bait and dies slowly, it can be eaten by owls, raptors, cats, and dogs — and the poison accumulates up the food chain. Perth's barn owls, wedge-tailed eagles, and domestic pets were paying the price.

What this means for you:

Here's something most people don't know: snakes don't just randomly wander into your yard. They follow their food source — and their food source is RODENTS.

If you've got mice or rats on your property, you've got a sign up that says "free meal" to every dugite and tiger snake in the neighbourhood.

So if you're seeing snakes near your home this spring:
