hello?

is anyone there? Oh good. I know.
It's been so very long
since we caught up
in a garden or a kitchen somewhere.

I've been fully immersed in creating a social enterprise called Cultivate the Chaos. Immersive training courses for young adults.

It is a work in progress and has been progressing well for three or four years.

You can visit Cultivate the Chaos or STUFFit Student Film Festival. It's fun. Next opportunity to jump into STUFFit for a year of in July 2026

The MET - Maroochydore City now has a hive of around 5000 native bees. Ann Ross of HiveHaven installed one of their revolutionary native bee hives as part of a Bee workshop supported by Sunshine Coast Council through their Living Smart Queensland program.

Today the native bee is rapidly being recognised as an extremely effective pollinator of Australian food crops – in essence, this bee could be the key to our survival. As with honey bees, these cute little critters do have a queen, they have workers and, YES they produce honey!

Hive Haven's goal is to raise awareness and help our Australian native stingless bee species.

Come down and visit the bees and wander around the gardens to spot these tiny beneficial insects amongst the flowers.

Here is the info for the upcoming Biosphere day at The MET - Maroochydore City on Sunday 5th November. Monika Sprott and I will bring a gorgeous selection of interesting natural materials for the children (and their adults) to create whimsical and fantastical clay seed-houses.

I'll also be leading some short tours around the food gardens at The MET so if you're interested to learn what food plants to grow on the coast please come along. It's fun and relaxing.

Great media opportunity this morning with Mayor Mark Jamieson at The MET - Maroochydore City to promote the Sunshine Coast Council's Biosphere event on Sunday 5th November.

Had to jockey for position around the media scrum to get some photos.

The full story will be on Channel 7 Sunshine Coast and WIN News Sunshine Coast and on ABC Sunshine Coast and in Kids on the Coast Magazine

Thanks to our young seed-house creators and to you Monika for wrangling them.

Fabulous cooking at Arundell Ave today for Coast2Bay Housing Group. I think the best bit was foraging in the garden for a selection of green leafy veg and showing some of the blokes how to make a delish side-dish of wilted greens with garlic and lemon juice.

Thanks Jaq and Rebecca.
