If I Had to Restart My Odoo Career Today…
I wouldn’t start by learning more features.
I’d start by unlearning a few mistakes.

When I began with Odoo, I thought:
“If I master every module, I’ll be valuable.”
I was wrong.

If I had to restart my Odoo career today, I’d focus on this instead 👇
• I’d learn how a business actually runs, not just how Odoo can run
• I’d sit with accountants before touching Accounting
• I’d walk warehouses before configuring Inventory
• I’d listen to users before proposing customizations

Because here’s the truth no one tells you:
Most Odoo projects don’t fail because of bad code.
They fail because we configure systems for assumptions, not reality.

I’d also stop chasing “clever solutions” and start building:
• Boring workflows that scale
• Simple screens users don’t fear
• Processes people actually follow

The best compliment an Odoo consultant can get isn’t:
“Wow, this system is powerful.”
It’s:
“I don’t have to think anymore. It just works.”

ERP is not about showing how smart we are.
It’s about making businesses run smoother even when no one is watching.

If you’re early in your Odoo journey:
Learn people. Learn process.
The software will follow.

This invoice was processed without typing a single line.
No copy-paste. No manual checks. No accounting headache.

This is AI inside Odoo Accounting doing the work quietly in the background
So… what can AI actually do in Odoo?

✅Automatic Invoice Recognition (OCR)
Upload a PDF or image → Odoo instantly reads it.
Supplier, VAT number, dates, totals, taxes — filled automatically.

✅ AI-powered 3-way matching
Supplier invoice?
Odoo matches it with the Purchase Order + Receipt on its own.
Less human error. Faster approvals.

✅ Smarter Bank Reconciliation
Odoo learns from your past entries and suggests the right matches.
What used to take hours now takes minutes.

No separate AI module. No complex setup.
AI is already embedded in your everyday Odoo workflows.

This is why modern finance teams don’t “do accounting” anymore they review what AI already prepared.

If you’re still entering invoices manually in 2026…
you’re not busy, you’re just using the wrong tools.

Wait… Is “Deprecated” in Odoo 19 actually deprecated? Or is it still there?

I was going through the Odoo 19 documentation and came across this line under Chart of Accounts:

“It is not possible to delete an account once a transaction has been recorded on it. You can make them unusable by using the Deprecated feature.”

Now here’s the real question 👇

If we’re in Odoo 19, and the feature itself is called Deprecated…
- Is it still active?
- Or is it something Odoo plans to remove?
- Or is “Deprecated” just the label for disabling accounts?

Let’s clarify this for everyone:
In Odoo, when an account has transactions, you cannot delete it (which makes perfect accounting sense).

Instead, you mark it as Deprecated, which simply means:
✔️ It can’t be used for new transactions
✔️ It stays for historical data
✔️ Your books remain clean and compliant

So no, the feature itself is NOT deprecated.
It’s a control mechanism. A safety lock.

But I’ve seen many users (and even consultants) confused by this wording.

What do you think — should Odoo rename this to something clearer like “Archived” or “Inactive” to avoid confusion?

After reviewing multiple Odoo databases in the last few years, I’ve noticed a pattern:
🔹 300+ custom modules
🔹 Studio used for everything
🔹 No staging environment
🔹 No indexing on heavy tables
🔹 Automated actions running every minute
🔹 No understanding of ORM performance
🔹 Direct edits in production

And then the client says:
“Odoo is very slow.”

Let’s be honest.

Odoo can handle:
- Thousands of products
- Millions of records
- Multi-company
- Multi-warehouse
- Manufacturing + Accounting + POS together

But only if you respect its architecture.

🔍 Real Technical Problems I See in 90% of Projects:
1️⃣ Writing compute fields without store=True thinking it’s “lightweight”
2️⃣ Overriding create() and write() without understanding performance impact
3️⃣ Using automated actions instead of proper server-side logic
4️⃣ No PostgreSQL optimization
5️⃣ No worker configuration tuning
6️⃣ Installing every app “just in case”
And the worst one…
7️⃣ Customizing without understanding the core framework.

If your Odoo database size grows and performance drops drastically…
That’s not Odoo failing.
That’s bad architecture decisions compounding over time.

What Most Consultants Don’t Talk About:
Real Odoo expertise is not:
❌ Installing modules
❌ Changing views
❌ Adding fields

Real expertise is:
✔ Understanding ORM
✔ Knowing when NOT to customize
✔ Designing scalable workflows
✔ Planning database structure
✔ Thinking long-term

📌 The Real Question:
Are we implementing Odoo…
Or are we slowly breaking it?

If you’re an Odoo consultant:
What’s the biggest performance mistake you’ve seen in a project?

Let’s talk real implementation stories 👇

What if I told you this Odoo Enterprise Theme is FREE to v19… but not for long? Yes, you read that right.

I personally contributed to upgrading the Enterprise Theme Module to Odoo 19, and it’s now live on the Odoo App Store.

This isn’t just another theme.
It’s one of the most downloaded and trusted enterprise themes in the Odoo ecosystem used by businesses that care about clean UI, performance, and professional presentation.

And right now…
It’s completely FREE.

But here’s the catch:
In a few days, it will switch to a paid module.

If you're:
Implementing Odoo 19
Upgrading an existing database
Building client demos
Or just want your backend to look enterprise-level polished
This is your window.

As a developer who worked on making this compatible and optimized for Odoo 19, I can confidently say:
✔️ Clean & modern UI
✔️ Smooth performance
✔️ Fully aligned with Odoo 19 structure
✔️ Enterprise-ready feel

Don’t wait until it becomes paid and then wish you had downloaded it.

🔗 Check it here and grab it while it's free:

If you download it, drop a comment and let me know your feedback, I’d love to hear how you’re using it in your projects.

Let’s make Odoo 19 look as powerful as it actually is.

Today I was reviewing a consolidated P&L in Odoo 19, and it hit me again…
Most businesses don’t even realize how powerful the Horizontal Groups feature is.

With just a few clicks, you can:
✔️ Combine multiple companies
✔️ View side-by-side balances
✔️ Instantly see contribution per company
✔️ Generate a consolidated Balance Sheet or P&L
✔️ Eliminate manual spreadsheet consolidation

No complex third-party tools.
No copy-paste chaos.
No formula errors hiding in row 347.

Just clean, real-time financial clarity.

How it works in Odoo 19:
- Activate Developer Mode
- Go to Accounting → Configuration → Horizontal Groups
- Create a new group
- Select the reports where you want it applied
- Add rules using fields + domain filters
- Save — and boom, consolidated view ready.

This is the kind of feature that changes how leadership sees numbers.

Because when you can instantly see:
• Which branch is actually profitable
• Where expenses are hurting margins
• How each company contributes to net profit

You don’t just report numbers…
You make decisions with confidence.

Odoo 19 isn’t just about accounting.
It’s about visibility.
Control.
And smarter growth.

If you’re managing multiple companies and still consolidating manually…
You’re working too hard.
Let’s fix that.

Are you using Horizontal Groups yet?
Or still living in Excel consolidation mode?

I’m officially Odoo 19 Functional Certified 💜

Every version teaches you something new.
But Odoo 19? It challenges how you think about automation, scalability, and real business impact.

This wasn’t just an exam.
It was a reminder that growth never stops.

Grateful for the journey.
Excited for what’s coming next.
