Can you build a solution to a real industry challenge in just one day? 🤔💡
That was the challenge facing Western students at the Lilly Hackathon.

Between assignment deadlines, group projects and everything else university life throws at them, students spent the day tackling real-world challenges currently faced by Lilly. Working alongside industry mentors, they explored real datasets, stepped into the shoes of users and transformed their ideas into innovative prototypes in just a few hours 🚀

More than just a competition, it was a chance for students to test their creativity, think differently and gain firsthand experience solving problems that matter.

To our industry partner Lilly, thank you for making your first hackathon with Launch Pad one to remember and for giving students the opportunity to tackle real challenges and explore innovative solutions.

A huge thank you to Waleed Abdelwahed, the Lilly mentors and our judges for sharing their expertise, challenging students to think bigger and helping make the day such a valuable experience.

And of course, congratulations to our winning team ARX, with PulseScore 360 and Outliers taking out the runner-up spots! 🏆

To every student who chose to spend a day innovating during peak assignment season, thank you for showing up, giving it a go and proving that the future of innovation is in very good hands!

Third Co-working Friday and the momentum isn't slowing down.

What started as a simple reason to get out of the house (and out of the pyjamas 😅) has quickly become a sold-out community of founders making real progress.

From brand-new ideas to growing startups, the room was full of founders making progress, sharing wins and getting stuck into real work.

Our Find Your Voice, Launch Pad Creative Masterclass had us laughing, getting into groups... then more groups... and somehow discovering just how powerful our voices can be.

It was a good reminder that your voice doesn't have to be the loudest in the room to make an impact.

Want to experience Japan while learning about startups, innovation and entrepreneurship?

Join the Venture Makers Global Exchange Program and spend two weeks in Kobe & Osaka from 27 February - 12 March 2027, working alongside students from around the world, visiting industry leaders, and exploring Japan's innovation ecosystem.
