About Us - Winery
Established in 1987 and now one of the regions oldest vineyards. Early pioneers of the wine industry in the South West of Western Australia, the Mountford family selected Pemberton with its high winter rainfall for the unique flavour potential possible from this cooler and largely forested region. Trained horticulturist Andrew Mountford was looking for a region as yet undiscove
red in Australia and chose the site of the vineyard based upon the combination of soil, climate, topography and of course most importantly the right feel. Eighty acres of undulating country gave all the variables needed for this dream and a fifteen acre vineyard was planted. Obvious cool climate conditions, amongst the coolest in Western Australia were suitable for Andrew and Sue Mountford's passion for the classic early ripening varieties; Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. In this regions short history these varieties have proven more than any other to be the correct selection. This is due to careful organic vineyard practice since inception and continual sound environmental care. These practices have enabled expression from vineyard to bottle ensuring all the wines and ciders retain their essence of place. About Us - Tangletoe Cidery
The Tangletoe Cider is made using organic Lady William, Browns, Sweet Coppin, Dabinet and Yarlington Mill apples grown on the property and locally sourced. About Us - Gallery
In 1994 Mountford Gallery was officially opened with an exhibition by John Austin. Over the years many artists have exhibited at Mountford Gallery, some of these include Bob Birch, Mac Betts, Averyle Shilkin, Barbara Bennett, Leon Pericles, Joy Henderson and Greg Crowe. Such has been the success of these exhibitions that some of the artists have been happy to hold a second and sometimes third exhibition of their latest works. Artists wishing to be considered for inclusion in the programme are invited to contact us or for more information visit our website. https://www.mountfordwines.com.au/
