This month's Coding from Beach meetup (Thursday 5 November, 6-8pm) will be pure fun with AI. It's a 2 hour hackathon in which we'll make ambitious new creative tools, stories and media.

We'll start with a lightning talk on how to make "creative jigs" - personal tools that let you produce new creative outputs and a quick demo on how to orchestrate image, video, audio and speech models to make fun new media.

Thanks to a very kind sponsorship from CfB legend Darryl King (iReckon Digital), each attendee will be given a token grant which they can use on the night with a variety of these powerful models via Openrouter.

You'll spend the bulk of the session hacking away on your project and at the end we'll present back what's been created.

The session is beginner friendly - we'll give you a web-based tool for generating this media and show you how to use it. For more advanced vibe coders, you'll get a skill and/or can cook your own.

How do you take an idea developed for YouTube and turn it into a television series for a national broadcaster?

If you're a local Screen professional, student or teacher - come along to the 4 November Sunshine Coast Screen Collective meetup to find out.

We'll hear from Peter Johnston and Cheryl Wright of Fade In Studio, the Sunshine Coast animation studio behind the new children's series Zip and the Tiny Sprouts.

Made locally on the Sunshine Coast, Zip and the Tiny Sprouts launched on ABC Kids and ABC iView on 21 September. Peter and Cheryl will take us behind the scenes of the project, sharing how the show was developed and made and what it took to make the leap from YouTube to broadcast television.

We'll explore the creative and production journey, the lessons learned along the way, and what creators should consider when developing an original concept with ambitions to reach a broader audience.

It's a great opportunity for local filmmakers, producers, writers and content creators to hear firsthand what goes into taking an original locally made project from an idea to the screen.

Are you AI-curious, starting to build with AI, or already down the AI Agent rabbit hole? Join us for our next, monthly Coding from Beach meetup - on Thursday 1 October, 6-8pm. Teenagers / youth, teachers as well as local software devs, engineers, and AI-curious beginners are all welcome in the CfB community.

This month's topic: Give your Agent pocket money.

Your AI agent can already search the web, write code and fill in forms. The next step is paying for things on its own: a weather feed, a data lookup, a job done by another agent. Each payment is tiny, often a fraction of a cent, and card payments can't handle amounts that small. So agents are starting to pay with digital money that runs on a blockchain, such as Bitcoin or digital dollars (called stablecoins).

CfB's blockchain expert, Todd Price, will show us how this works, and we'll spend most of the night hands-on, trying it out with our preferred coding agents. Todd will give everyone a few cents in bitcoin, which is enough for a lot of very small payments. You'll use it the way an agent would: pay to unlock content, pay for AI services other people have built, pay other people in the room, and pay a small circuit board to switch on its light.

Guest presenter Brendan Lee will also show how to get an AI agent to build a smart contract, which is a small program that runs on the blockchain and keeps track of its own data.

If you build things with AI agents, this is useful to know now. Sooner or later your agent will need to pay for data or a service, and you'll want it to do that without your credit card details. It works in the other direction too. If you've built something people or agents want, you can charge a fraction of a cent each time someone uses it, and a card payment can't do that.

You don't need to know anything about blockchain or crypto, and you don't need to buy any. Bring your laptop, and your AI agent so you can follow along and try it out.

The Hub’s September school holiday program runs from 21 September to 2 October, with ten hands-on workshops for kids and teens who love creating, building and experimenting with the latest technology.

Learn to vibecode over a fun, family-friendly weekend in the Noosa hinterland. It's happening on the weekend, 21-23 August 2026.

If you’ve only used ChatGPT here and there, and haven’t had the time or space to go further, Vibecamp is for you. Or maybe you're already building with AI and want to meet likeminded people also vibecoding cool projects. Everyone is welcome.

We'll have beginner workshops for people who have never vibecoded before. You’ll learn the basics, meet helpful people and use AI to bring one of your own ideas to life. You come away with a new skill that everyone is talking about.
