Services Australia is hosting a free webinar to help young people prepare for work, study and managing their finances after leaving school.

The ‘Financial Information When Leaving School’ webinar will explore starting work, understanding and managing money, setting long-term goals and planning for the future.

The webinar is free to attend and can be joined online from anywhere. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions through the live chat.

MEEDAC Esperance Community & Employment Expo 2026
It was fantastic to be part of the MEEDAC Esperance Community & Employment Expo 2026, which attracted approximately 350 attendees and 37 exhibitors from across the region.

The event provided a great opportunity to connect with students from local schools, job seekers, and community members who were interested in learning more about the exciting pathways available through apprenticeships and traineeships. It was inspiring to see so many people actively exploring opportunities to build skills and careers in regional Western Australia.

A big thank you to our valued stakeholders and employer partners, including Horizon Power (see glove photo) and DEWR, for their ongoing collaboration and commitment to supporting workforce development. Events like these highlight the importance of working together to create meaningful employment and training opportunities for our communities.

Looking forward to continuing these conversations and helping more people take the next step in their career journey.

Today, Mentor Lovelygee Maclagan and Administration Officer Alexandra Cassin attended the first day of Stage 1 block training for our first-year carpentry apprentices at Roebourne North Regional TAFE.

To welcome and support the apprentices as they commence this important stage of their training, the team provided a catered Subway lunch and refreshments, creating an opportunity to connect with apprentices in a relaxed and engaging environment.

During the visit, Lovelygee introduced the apprentices to the range of support available throughout their apprenticeship journey, including assistance with understanding and accessing incentives, available resources, training support, and guidance to help them successfully navigate their apprenticeship.

As part of this ongoing support, Lovelygee will be reaching out to each apprentice individually over the coming days to schedule one-on-one meetings, providing an opportunity to better understand their goals, discuss any challenges they may be facing, and offer tailored support throughout their training.

Visits like these are an important part of building strong connections with apprentices, ensuring they know where to seek assistance, and helping set them up for success both in the classroom and on the job.

Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA consultants Dorey and Crystal Moko were proud to attend the CME STEM Showcase at NEWMAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, connecting local students with hands-on STEM experiences, industry innovation and future career pathways.

Students from Newman Primary School, South Newman Primary School and NEWMAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL took part in interactive activities exploring automation, mine safety, technology, engineering and innovation while also learning more about the apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities available across the resources sector and beyond.

It was also a privilege to welcome The Hon Sabine Winton MLA MLA, Minister for Education; Early Childhood Australia; Wheatbelt, alongside representatives from the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA (CME), BHP, the Department of Education Western Australia, local schools and community stakeholders.

Events like this play an important role in helping young people see where their skills and interests could take them and how apprenticeships and traineeships can provide a practical pathway into some of WA’s most important industries.

A big thank you to CME, BHP, NEWMAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and everyone involved in delivering such a valuable initiative for students in regional Western Australia.
