We are pleased to be partnering with EKCCI to support the delivery of the ASA contract in Kununurra through a workforce collaboration arrangement.

Under this partnership, EKCCI employees may be seconded or engaged on a part-time basis within our organisation to assist in service delivery. All personnel operate under our management, systems, policies and contractual obligations, ensuring we retain full responsibility for the delivery of services under the ASA contract.

The East Kimberley Chamber is excited to announce our partnership with CCIWA to manage Apprenticeship Support Australia in the East Kimberley. Learn about how apprentices and trainees can support your business.

Pilbara Kimberley University Centres (PKUC) operates the East Kimberley Study Hub in Kununurra, supporting local students to access and succeed in higher education without having to leave the region. Through academic support, study facilities, industry partnerships and community engagement, PKUC works to expand educational opportunities and contribute to the long-term social and economic development of the East Kimberley.

As part of a national initiative exploring how higher education participation can be strengthened in rural and remote communities, PKUC is seeking local perspectives on the opportunities, challenges and aspirations that shape education and workforce pathways in Kununurra and the wider East Kimberley. The project recognises that communities such as Kununurra have unique circumstances, strengths and priorities, and that effective solutions need to be informed by local voices. During this Chamber Connect event, attendees will be invited to contribute their views through a short interactive feedback activity, helping to inform future approaches that are grounded in local experience and community priorities.

Our Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA team, alongside Raquel Hodder, had the opportunity to learn more about the apprentices' journeys and see their enthusiasm for developing practical skills and building rewarding careers in their chosen trades.

Growing local talent through strong community partnerships!

Another exciting milestone as Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA welcomed a new trainee from Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd to begin their Certificate II in Horticulture journey!

Through our ongoing partnership with NYFL, we're proud to support local people in accessing meaningful training and employment opportunities, while helping build a skilled workforce for the future.

It was wonderful to have Amee from NYFL and Paul from The Y-Crew join us for the sign-up, with a few special young visitors getting a glimpse into what their own apprenticeship or traineeship journey could look like one day! 🌟

At ASA, we believe every training journey starts with the right support. From the first sign-up to ongoing guidance, we're committed to helping apprentices and trainees feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Building the next generation of mining talent!

Exciting opportunities are underway at Macmahon Greenbushes operations, with another intake of Trainee Dump Truck Operators taking their first steps towards a career in the mining industry!

Our Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA team, Sheree O'Dea, Danielle Cochrane and Danielle Baker, recently visited the site to support the sign-up of new trainees as part of Macmahon's ongoing commitment to developing a skilled workforce.

Through structured traineeships, participants have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience, develop practical skills and build a strong foundation for a rewarding career in mining.

👏 A big thank you to Macmahon for its continued investment in workforce development and for creating meaningful training and employment pathways for emerging industry talent.

Inspiring future career pathways in Kalbarri!

It was a fantastic day at the SALT Program in Kalbarri on 14 September, connecting with 15 enthusiastic Year 9 students to explore their career aspirations and opportunities beyond school.

From electrical and heavy diesel apprenticeships to careers in medicine and law, students shared their ambitions and enthusiasm for the future.

At Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA, we're passionate about helping young people discover the diverse career pathways available through apprenticeships and traineeships, and supporting them to make informed decisions about their futures.

🤝 A big thank you to the SALT Program team and all partners involved for bringing this valuable initiative to Kalbarri and creating opportunities for young people to explore their potential, connect with industry and gain insights into their future career options.

Around 12 students from Roebourne District High School recently took part in a Ride Along experience at Cherratta Lodge, giving them the opportunity to explore local career pathways and see firsthand what working in the hospitality and accommodation sector can look like.

Students met with Site Manager Luke Johansson and the Cherratta Lodge team before touring different areas of the facility, including accommodation, the commercial laundry, offices, gym and kitchen.

It was fantastic to see the students so engaged and curious about the different roles available.

The visit has already sparked plenty of interest, with several students keen to explore workplace tag along opportunities in Term 4, others interested in School Based Traineeships in 2027, and Year 12 students considering potential full time employment opportunities after finishing school.

Experiences like these are a great example of what can happen when schools, employers and community partners work together to help young people understand their options and build meaningful pathways from education into employment.

A big thank you to Cherratta Lodge, Roebourne District High School, PCYC and everyone involved in making the experience possible, as well as Ngarda Media for helping capture the day. 👏
