Will they listen to the community????

I had time to do some research today. Looking at Welcome to Perth page, one of the partners in the proposed Glamping/function centre/event space business there is only one mention of Clayton’s Beach anywhere on his page and not one thing about Quinns as a destination. There are a couple of more recent posts about attractions in Yanchep, so that by his own admission would be a better location for a glamping area. The new train station at Yanchep is probably going to be closer to a venue up there than any kind of public transport in Quinn’s, particularly as the buses in Quinns reduce to about one an hour after dark. When I start to look at how you get people to and from a venue, all the stats from Tourism WA (9% of tourists stay at hotel/motel/accommodation, 44% stay with friends and family and the remainder rent self contained apartments and the average spend per day is $201/day) it’s very apparent not much detailed planning has gone into this idea from either side, despite the fact that City of Wanneroo has spent over $900k of rate payers money on this venture so far. More money needs to be spent before this proposal is finalised and at $50k for 21 years it is unlikely the cost to the rate payers will be covered. So please explain to me how the City of Wanneroo is making money out of this venture??? It is also apparent the proponent doesn’t appear to be able to make money out of this venture unless the event space is heavily utilised locking the local community out of the facilities while events are on. The original feasibility for this proposal cited a need for accommodation. Nothing about this proposal now is in line with the original planning.

Noting the senior partner has had a number of companies liquidated with creditors losing money, and the city has been pushing the benefit of providing local jobs, do you really feel confident those same people won’t become creditors who are owed money in the future?

I implore the City of Wanneroo to reevaluate this whole idea and the current location, it could be an awesome business idea and Quinns is a great location, but the two are not a match. Please retain Quinns as a family and community destination and use the alternative Yanchep location (or somewhere else) for the glamping/event space.

This is the area that City of Wanneroo think they can turn into overflow car parking. What happens when the Water Corp sewer or water mains have problems like they do today??
The overflow from the sewer or water main goes into the sump next door and Water Corp aren’t going to move a gravity sewer to suit CoW’s parking issues. Yet another reason to vote in some new councillors and get rid of the current mayor.

You can support our cause by raising a question or attending the meeting tonight, you don’t need to speak just turn up and demonstrate your support for a community space.

City of Wanneroo - Public Question Time

Copied from a fellow community space supporter

Hi Everyone,

Ken Tasker and I have just down a 3 hour stint down at the Quinns Beach foreshore outside the surf club encouraging people to take part in the COW Caravan Park Site Survey.

We had some great conversations with many beach users and handed out lots flyers highlighting our vison for the space, We would like the area to be used for public open space with Shelters, BBQ’s, additional parking, and some space allocated for a beach side Deli, Ice Cream Shop or even powered pads for Food trucks to hire. Quinns has lost a lot of beach site infrastructure over the years to erosion and the City has never returned it to the area.

What we found surprising was the amount of regular beach users that had no idea what was proposed for the site. It was comforting to hear that these people love our beach and want to support us with the community open space idea.

We need all the support we can get if we want to keep this site for the Quinns and wider community.

I know we are all sick of surveys but this is our last chance to speak up, I strongly encourage you all to “Have Your Say”
