HIS EDGE GETS HIM THE ROLE. HER EDGE GETS HER THE FEEDBACK.

The Hogan Development Survey measures 11 leadership derailers across thousands of executives. The gendered pattern is striking.

Women's most common derailers: caution, deference, emotional sensitivity, reserve. Patterns socialised from childhood. Be careful. Don't be 'too much'.

Men's most common derailers: boldness, risk-taking, charm, boundary-pushing.

Organisations consistently reward the second list with promotions — and penalise the first in talent reviews.

Same pressure. Different patterns. Only one gets ahead.

The filter isn't broken. It was built this way.

Impostor syndrome doesn’t mean you’re underqualified.More often, it means you’ve grown.

Research shows impostor feelings are most common in high-performing leaders stepping into bigger roles - new scope, higher stakes, greater visibility.

Not because they lack capability, but because their identity hasn’t caught up yet.

Left unchecked, it can drive over-preparing, self-doubt, and burnout.Handled well, it’s actually useful — a signal that you’re stretching, learning, and doing something new.

The good news is that if you have it, you’re amongst the elite 🤓Watch here to learn one strategy to acknowledge it, and to lead well with it! 💪🏽

"Success is being excited to go to work and being excited to come home." - Will Ahmed, Entrepreneur

I have coached a number Execs over my 20 year coaching career and a handful of them have been more excited about going to work than going home.

My wish, and my aim, for all my clients is to have a well-rounded life.

There’s no point being successful at work if your home life is in shambles.
That’s not my definition of success.
And it’s wonderful to be happy at home, but if you are miserable at work, also not good..

For now, I invite you to think of one thing you can do this week to make you even more excited about going home, and one thing that will make you excited, or even more excited, about going to work.

For me:

1. I’m going to share my new flyer about my ‘Manager as Coach’ program to my existing clients. I love facilitating this program so more of that will make me even more happy at work!(Work goal)
2. I’m going to book tickets to a comedy show for this weekend. (Home goal)
3. I’m going to leaf blow my front yard and plant some pretty flowers so my garden view from my office makes me smile. (Bonus goal - work and home combined!)

What’s yours? Comment and let me know!

The research is clear: who you spend time with affects both your income and your health 💸💪🏽

Studies on social networks show that financial behaviours are contagious.
Spending habits, risk tolerance, ambition, and even career progression spread through close ties.

Economists have found that exposure to higher-aspiration peer groups is linked to higher long-term income through networks and opportunity.

Health follows the same pattern. Longitudinal research shows relationship quality strongly predicts health, wellbeing, and longevity.

This isn’t about cutting people off. It’s about recognising one truth: proximity is influence.

Yesterday’s flying lesson delivered three sharp revelations, and every one transfers directly to leadership.

In aviation, complacency costs lives. In leadership, it costs judgment, performance, and trust.

Different context. Same psychology. Same stakes.

Watch the reel to see how these lessons show up in business more often than leaders realise, and DM me if you want to take to the skies, coaching-wise or aviation-wise!✈️

Yesterday I had 3 revelations from my flying lesson.

These revelations have direct transference to leadership from the boardroom to the tearoom to your Teams meeting rooms.

From take-off and landing chats, to scanning your instruments, to Mayday calls, these all have a direct and vital talk for how we can perform at an even higher level in business.

Watch the reel to hear the three lesson, and how they show up in business more often than leaders realise.

And if you want to take to the skies sometime, coaching or aviation-wise, DM me✈️

HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT THE RAINBOW? 🌈

What are you prepared to put up with to get what you really want?

I’m a believer that, for the most part, we can have it all, just not all at the same time.
Here’s the truth about change: nothing meaningful comes for free.
Every new outcome has a pay-off and a cost. And for change to stick, the pay-off must outweigh the cost. If staying the same feels easier or more rewarding, nothing shifts.

Sometimes it’s short-term discomfort for long-term gain.
I’m not here for hustle culture, but there are seasons where you put your head down, deliver the project, meet the deadline… and then you rest. Recovery isn’t optional; it’s strategic.

Right now, I want the rainbow. I’m renovating my upstairs to create a true sanctuary , a place to unwind, reset, and bring cortisol down while endorphins rise. That means working more hours, navigating challenging conversations, and seeing loved ones a little less for now. It’s temporary. There’s an end date.

So let me ask you:What do you want? What’s the real pay-off?And what are you willing to tolerate, briefly, to get there?

Choose your season. Schedule it. Then go get your rainbow. 🌈

WORK TRIPS - FUN OR FRENETIC?
Usually I come back exhausted after my week long interstate trips to facilitate team and leadership workshops.
This time - I did things differently!
And with these new insights in place I can't wait to go away again soon - Sydney and Melbourne here I come!

As the prices of gold and silver take a dive, I can’t help but reflect on this quote that I love.

We have absolutely no control over the stock market.

However, we have a significant amount of control over our health.
What can you do to work on your health? Every day.

And we know that sunlight, greenery, sand in your toes or soil under your feet all add to our levels of well-being.

So on those days where you really don’t want to go to the gym or that pilates class - just jump out of bed, put on a pair of trainers, and go get thee some sunlight hitting your retina to wake you up without caffeine!

I promise you that your body will thank you as you get that natural good cortisol stimulated and the melatonin dissipated - all before your first cappuccino!

I invite you to try this at least once this week.
And let me know how you go! 💪🏽

Try before you buy! Or my body is my temple...

I'm not a fan of Pilates, but the pilates studio down the road had a '15 days for 50 bucks special' and my friend convinced me to sign up.

2 days into my 15 days - when this was filmed - I was still not a fan.
But guess what? Five days in: my body is changing. I'm becoming a morning person. And I'm starting to enjoy it (mostly when it's over! 😝)

Call to action - try before you buy! No commitment, no contract, no big expense.
Work from Pilates to pickleball, cooking to crocheting - it can be arty or sporty, choose your own adventure!

CHOOSING FREEDOM EVERY DAY ✨

“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.” - Seth Godin

Let’s be honest.
We can’t live on holiday.
But we can steal the feeling.
For me, freedom looks like dancing in the kitchen, flying a little plane, getting my hands dirty in the garden, or lingering with people I love - on an ordinary Tuesday.
One small moment of joy a day keeps me grounded, energised and at my best, professionally and personally.
While many of us are in holiday mode, this is a perfect moment to ask:
What does freedom look like when the suitcase is unpacked?

This week, choose one:
• Learn something that moves you closer to the life you want
• Move your body purely for joy
• Create something
• Get outside - garden, ocean, fresh air counts
• Spend unrushed time with someone who matters

You only get one life.
Make it one you don’t need to escape from.
Over to you - what’s your freedom move this week?

.
Just got back from 5 days of silence and it was magnificent!! 🥳

Why? No phone, no laptop, no noise!
And my loved ones told me I should go away more often! Rude 😂

But I totally get it.
I was relaxed, happy and full of love, acceptance and focussed motivation. I was like Ted Lasso on steroids.

What can you do to get this vibe?
Watch here for some ideas!
