VTS-Communities RTO 51843 RTO 51843. Empowering regional WA through skills, confidence and connection. This may suit job seekers or other students in transition between careers.

Delivering vocational training and the SEE Program to support learners and communities across the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne. FUNDED TRAINING
Jobs & Skills WA is a WA State Government initiative that prioritises its investment in training to focus on courses that equip people to take up jobs that are, or will be, in high demand. To achieve this, Jobs & Skills WA provides subsidised training f

or eligible students in traineeships and apprenticeships, as well students enrolling in specific courses deemed to be a State priority qualification. Apprenticeships and traineeships are a priority, and many other important industry qualifications are also subsidised as general industry training courses, foundation skills and equity courses. Employers are able to take advantage of funding to engage, up-skill and positively impact sales performance in their businesses with Vocational Training Services. VTS is contracted by the WA State Government to deliver the following:

Funded traineeships and apprenticeships
Priority Industry Training
Participation Program – Job Seekers and Equity cohorts

PRIORITY INDUSTRY TRAINING
Vocational Training Services provides a number of qualifications to students who are seeking a training independently of an employer. These programs are delivered in a blended mode of study, with a significant face-to-face component, to ensure practical skills are developed and translated effectively into a work or job context. PARTICIPATION PROGRAM
VTS is an expert and respected provider of foundational education and training programs to students where typical education and training programs are not effective. Many people have barriers to learning within the mainstream system and we are committed to providing high-quality alternative education and training programs that fully engage and benefit such students. We primarily focus our efforts in delivering effective programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Youth at Risk target groups that are experiencing these barriers and providing training design and support systems that support students in achieving results. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs have been specifically developed to provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s in achieving their education and training goals – whatever they might be. Our staff are trained in cultural awareness and our courses are tailored to the interests of the students, have a high composition of activity-based learning as well as offering real life working scenarios to enable the students to enter the workforce with knowledge and confidence. Disengaged youth

VTS are very proud to offer tailored programs young people disengaged from the mainstream education and training system and are seeking genuine alternative options to kickstart their working lives. Similar to the ATSI program, our trainers are dedicated, and have the skills required to identify the needs of the students, and adjust the training delivery accordingly. Services
In addition to the range of courses and qualifications available through VTS, those registered in our Participation-funded courses may also have access to:

Mentors for all students from inception to graduation, to support them with identifying strategies to remain engaged with the program and identify future pathways into jobs or further education and training;
Provision of Language, Literacy and Numeracy support
Training design to accommodate the unique and distinct culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
Provision of transport services for young people who may not yet drive or have access to suitable transportation to the course. Each student across both cohorts, is required to participate in a community based project where they plan, organise, and deliver a project to the community. These projects include – a pamper day for local members, a photo shoot at the location of the students choosing, a gala sports day for a local primary school and much more! Team
Our team members are dedicated to providing a rewarding education and training experience for our students, and enjoy the opportunity to create positive and lasting relationships with those who participate in our courses. All team members have demonstrated experience in working with Indigenous communities and youth. This ensures that our training is specifically tailored to meet the needs of students who access our services. Funded programs

This National Reconciliation Week, we reflect on the importance of listening, learning and walking together.

The 2026 theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and that meaningful change happens when we all play a part.

At VTS, we are proud to work alongside First Nations students and communities across Western Australia through foundation skills programs, vocational training and community-based learning opportunities that support confidence, connection and future pathways.

We see every day the value of creating safe, supportive learning environments where people feel respected, heard and empowered to achieve their goals.

This week, we encourage everyone to take time to learn more about our shared histories, cultures and communities and to consider how we can all contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways.

A really positive story from our SEE Program this week. 🤎

Neilo joined VTS around six months ago. He often kept to himself in class, but he showed up, worked hard and always gave thoughtful contributions when he spoke.

He shared with his trainer that his dream job was working on a cattle station. After some difficult years and personal challenges, he said coming to VTS had helped him stay focused and keep moving forward.

A few weeks ago, he heard his old station was hiring again. Together with his trainer, he updated his resume, tracked down previous qualifications and prepared his application.

This week, he got the news that he had been successful.

He came into class yesterday for what we thought would be his last day before heading off next week — but while he was there, he received a phone call asking him to start immediately.

So off he went, straight back into the outback and back into the job he loves.

We’re incredibly proud of him and grateful to be part of stories like this.

We’re on the road.

As part of our continued expansion into the Pilbara, VTS has invested in a coaster bus to support delivery in Port Hedland.

Access to training can be a challenge in regional areas. This allows our team to better support students by providing transport to and from training, helping remove barriers to participation.

Over the coming days, the team will be travelling through regional WA as the vehicle makes its way north.

We’re looking forward to strengthening our presence in Port Hedland and continuing to support local communities with accessible training opportunities.

When Cyclone Narelle came calling, our Carnarvon team didn't hesitate. 🌀

Our staff and students came together over the weekend to help prepare our Carnarvon office — sandbags at the doors, towels along the thresholds and a whole lot of community spirit.

We're proud of this crew. Thinking of everyone across Carnarvon and Exmouth who was impacted. 💛

As part of Harmony Week, one of our Pilbara trainers shared what diversity means in the classroom.

“Our diversity helps make this a great place to work because every student brings their own unique ideas and skills. A diverse classroom is a place where we learn from each other and grow together.”

We’ve worked alongside Sam’s Spares for some time now, and it’s always rewarding to see the impact these initiatives have in the community. Programs like this help connect refurbished technology with people who can benefit from it most, while supporting skills development and employment pathways.

🚀 He’s Back for More 🙌
And This Is What Impact Looks Like

Tom from VTS-Communities RTO 51843 has returned for another round of G1G1 laptops and monitors after seeing firsthand the quality of our refurbished tech and the real difference it’s making.

When businesses come back, it tells us something important:

✔️ The product stacks up
✔️ The service delivers
✔️ The impact is real

Every G1G1 purchase doesn’t just equip a training organisation, it directly matches laptops into the hands of people in need across our community.

✨️ That means more students connected.

✨️ More families supported.

✨️ More neurodivergent team members employed and building careers in tech.

Tom, thank you again for backing what we do and trusting Sam’s Spares to deliver. Partnerships like this are how we scale impact without compromising quality.

If your organisation needs devices and wants to create direct, measurable community impact at the same time, let’s talk.

𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀

Two participants at our Derby training venue recently cleared their court fines through the Work and Development Permit (WDP) Scheme while attending:

• 52878WA Certificate I in Leadership
• Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program

They preferred to remain anonymous, but their achievement highlights the positive impact education and training can have.

Through learning, they gained skills, confidence and a fresh start.

VTS is proud to support the WDP Scheme and help community members move forward through training.

If you have unpaid fines, speak with your support worker or local service provider about the Work and Development Permit Scheme and how education and training may help.

𝗩𝗧𝗦 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝘂𝗻𝘂𝗻𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮

We’re excited to introduce Flo-Kay and Tanya, our new trainers who are now based right here in Kununurra.

VTS has been delivering training in the East Kimberley since 2017, but this month marks something special—we’re now here full-time and looking forward to working more closely with the community.

Our first focus will be establishing the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, supporting people to build language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills that can lead to work, further training and new opportunities.

Kununurra will also be our base for outreach into Wyndham and other East Kimberley communities, so we can support people across the region.

We’re also really pleased to be continuing our partnership with Job Pathways, building on the great work we’ve been doing together in Broome over the past year.

If you see Flo-Kay or Tanya around town, please say hello.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
