Eight years ago, I enrolled in a Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine at James Cook University with more faith than information.
I had heard all the storiesโฆ
โItโs a difficult degree.โ
โBiostatistics is one of the hardest modules.โ
โSo many students struggle.โ
But instead of focusing on the people who struggled, I chose to focus on the people who succeeded.
My mindset was simple:
โIf others have passed this road before me, then it can be done.โ
The truth is, I had no idea what many of the modules would even involve. I just started by faith, trusted God, stayed committed, and kept moving forward one assignment, one exam, and one semester at a time.
And by Godโs grace, I didnโt just passโฆ I graduated with excellent results and earned a Distinction.
What makes this testimony even more meaningful is that I did it while: โข Working full-time as a nurse
โข Raising 3 young children
โข Serving actively in church and ministry
There were many moments when I didnโt fully understand the material at the beginning. In fact, some modules only truly made sense after I had completed the assignments, sat the exams, and gone through the process.
And thatโs the lesson I want to leave with someone today:
You do not need to have every detail before you start.
Sometimes we delay our destiny because we are waiting for complete clarity. But growth does not happen before the journey โ it happens during the journey.
If you already understood everything, there would be no need to learn.
Like Abraham, sometimes God simply says, โGo,โ and the details are revealed along the way. Faith is not having the full map; faith is taking the first step anyway.
So if there is something in your heart you want to pursue โ a degree, a business, a ministry, a dream, a new beginning โ do not let fear of the unknown stop you.
Start.
Learn on the way.
Grow through the process.
Trust God with the outcome.
Because many things only become clear after you begin. โจEight years ago, I enrolled in a Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine at James Cook University with more faith than information.
