From Shy to Shine: 6 Ways to Boost Your Child’s Speaking Confidence
1. Encourage your child to speak English without worrying about making mistakes. Praise their efforts and don’t interrupt or correct them too often. Let them know that mistakes are normal and helpful for learning
2. Model confident and courageous behaviors. Show your child how you take on new challenges, risks and opportunities. Express your positive attitude and self-belief
3. Know your child’s temperament and challenges. Acknowledge and accept their strengths and weaknesses. Help them set realistic goals and celebrate their achievements
4. Practice, practice, practice. Give your child plenty of opportunities to speak in different situations and contexts. Help them prepare and rehearse their speeches or presentations. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement
5. Focus on delivery. Teach your child how to use their voice, body language, eye contact and gestures effectively. Help them overcome nervousness and anxiety by using relaxation techniques and positive affirmations
6. Learn to manage mistakes. Teach your child how to handle errors or difficulties gracefully. Help them learn from their mistakes and improve their performance. Remind them that everyone makes mistakes sometimes and that it’s not the end of the world
At Confident Speakers Academy, we organize workshops / after school sessions for kids to develop their public speaking skills. Our workshops not only help them speak well, but also boost their academic grades in school and open up a world of opportunities. If you are a parent who wants to help your child become a confident and expressive speaker, follow our page for updates on our new batches.
