We always have fun on filming day! Today we started a new filming series for Edith Cowan University for their Masters of Counselling students. We're finishing off the year in typical style; lots of laughs (and a little learning)!

I don't believe we're up to week 5 in our snapshot learning already! Check out this week's video which looks at coping strategies. We all have coping strategies - things we do when we are feeling stressed or overwhelmed to help us return to feeling calm. However, sometimes these coping strategies can become dysfunctional without us realising. Here's a quick look at how to tell if a coping strategy is functional or dysfunctional, and how to manage it if it is dysfunctional. Enjoy!

In this snapshot we explore coping strategies, and how we can better understand whether a coping strategy is functional or dysfunctional. References:Chamberl...

We're excited to share our fourth episode of our Brain Link Snapshots, which focusses on vicarious trauma. Vicarious trauma is, sadly, far too common in human service providers and mental health workers. However, with early identification and intervention, this potential trauma can be managed.

As always, please be in touch if you have any questions!

Our second Snapshot Learning video is now available to view! This week we are exploring the stress response, sometimes called the Fight and Flight response.

The stress response plays a huge part in how survivors of trauma react, and when we understand it better, we can support survivors in a far more effective way.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]

Can't wait to hear from you!

Happy ! A few months ago we had the opportunity to work with the Department of Communities Learning and Development Centre, training Child Protection Workers from across the state in how to recognise the signs and symptoms of childhood trauma, and strategies to reduce re-traumatisation and increase emotional and social wellbeing for children who have experienced neglect, abuse and trauma.

It was a great couple of days full of thoughtful discussion, targetted case studies, and grounding theory in best practice.

We are now open for bookings for semester 2 of this year. If you are looking for a PD day that makes a difference, get in touch!

And keep an eye out for our new video series which is in final production stage and will be released soon!

Take care 🙂

We had the privilege of working with Whitford Catholic Primary School yesterday for their all-staff Professional Development Day, focussing on how to increase neuroscientific approaches to trauma recovery within the classroom in the most organic and efficient way possible.

For the first PD Day for the year I'm not sure what we expected, but it's safe to say we were absolutely inspired by this team's commitment to the wellbeing of every child at the school, creating safe and supportive classrooms, and creating a school community that is authentic, caring and passionate.

We found this gem of feedback in our online review system that we wanted to share with you all.

Let's see what else 2022 has in store!

We've been a little quiet on social media lately as we've been busy working on producing some amazing new content for 2022!

Here's a quick snapshot of our most recent project, to be released early next year. Big shout out to our amazing media partners, Story Studios, for producing a series of incredible short videos. We can't wait to share them with you!

If there's any topics you want us to cover, please get in touch.

Do you find it hard to get started when you're tackling a big task? Here's a 3-step process to finish tasks on-time and increase your motivation!

First, set a specific time for when you can tackle the task. Make sure it's both realistic and achievable.

Then, break a big task down into smaller, more manageable jobs.

Finally, reward yourself for the small wins. Take a short break and do something to recognise the job well done.

This will increase dopamine, which will then make you feel more motivated to continue!
