We often train our leaders to manage our business assets - financial, physical, products, customers. But we often donโ€™t train our leaders to manage our most important, costly and most valuable asset - our people.

Front line leaders have the greatest influence on the performance, productivity, safety and engagement of people. Yet skills in people management and leadership are often left to chance. Sometimes with dire consequences.

Management and leadership coaching works because it provides development that Is highly individual to the needs of the manager or leader. In their time, and in their context.

No generic programs - just highly customised individual development, that is effective and affordable.

I coach to the outcomes you want to see in your leaders and teams, leveraging qualifications in leadership, executive and leadership coaching and psychology, and many years of senior leadership and people and culture experience.

Who do you want to be?

There are few more important questions in life.

Last week, I experienced a moment that literally stopped me in my tracks!

I had been reading through an email that had left me feeling intensely frustrated. As I read through it, I could feel tears of frustration starting to gather.

My son called to me from another room. I started to respond. And then I stopped.

What I had caught (just in time) was the automatic response that was about to leave my lips. A frustrated tone, angry words.

A question came to me. โ€˜Who do I want to be in this relationship?โ€™ I knew it wasnโ€™t the frustrated, upset me that was still reeling from the email.

I stopped.

I thought consciously about how I wanted to be in my relationship with my beautiful son. I changed my stance, my tone and my body language - and responded with love, care and genuine interest. I chose to be who I wanted to be.

This is more than just being mindful. Not just a vague desire to be better. But a deliberate decision about who I want to be. Not just in that moment, but every day, and in every way.

Investing time working out who we want to be - as leaders, partners, parents, friends, colleagues - is important as it helps us to know where to navigate back to, if and when we lose our way.

This insight came from my work as a Curiosity Coach!

Using the Curiosity Card deck, Iโ€™d found the words to describe who I want to be - as a leader, a parent, a partner, a friend, and colleague. As a human!

This process, which I now share with others through Curiosity Coaching, gave me the answers to that important questionโ€ฆ. โ€˜Who do I want to be?โ€™

Curiosity Coaching gave me the words to navigate my world. I carry an image of the words with me, if I need to remember who I want (and choose) to be.

While this is a simple example, the insights gained through the Curiosity Cards have helped to guide important decisions in many aspects of my work and life.

If you would like to find the words to navigate your world, please do book in for a Curiosity Coaching session. You can get in touch via DM or at [email protected].

I have 5 FREE coaching sessions I am offering to leaders in โ€˜for purposeโ€™ organisations - drop me a message to claim your spot!

Thanks Watkins for creating the Curiosity Card deck and Curiosity Coach certification that has supported me to decide who I want to be, and to support others to do the same.

Itโ€™s a wrap. 3 weeks, 3307 Push-Ups, including many performed on location while cycling the Munda Biddi trail!

Many times, as the push-up count rose, I felt deep sadness and distress with the realisation that every push up represented a life lost to su***de, with a large circle of family and friends devastated by the loss.

I dedicate a great deal of time to fundraising, raising awareness and reducing stigma associated with mental health, as a mental health trainer, and through my volunteer work with mental health focused cycling groups and NFPs.

The Push for Better Foundation supports a number of organisations providing mental health support in the community. While we can sometimes feel powerless to help, your donation does make a difference. Together we can โ€˜Push for Betterโ€™ mental health outcomes.

Please do consider donating. Your support is greatly appreciated. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›

Day 5 of Push Up Challenge was a day of rest, BUT it was Sunday, and a beautiful day, so Iโ€™ve banked some for future days.

One of the things I love about the challenge is that those who support it are doing exactly the things that are important for physical and mental health! Physical exercise, being outdoors, creating meaning and purpose, and creating and maintaining social connections.

Thank you to those who have generously donated to this important cause. If not, thereโ€™s still time! Link below.

Iโ€™d love your support ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›

Day 4 of The Pushup Challenge and todayโ€™s target is 150 push-ups. I stopped at the end of my bike ride this morning for a quick 10 pushups against the beautiful backdrop of the Canning River. ๐Ÿคฉ

Did you know that 1.5 million Australians live with a mood disorder, such as major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder? Early and accessible support can make a significant difference to the duration and severity of these conditions, and aid early recovery.

Iโ€™d love your support to help to make a difference through the amazing work of the Push for Better Foundation.

Thank you

Day 2 of the Push-Up Challenge, and this is me kicking off Day 2 with 10 pushups at 5.30 this morning at the start of my bike ride.

Did you know that the rate of diagnosed depression is greater in females than males, but the su***de rate for males is much higher than for females.

We know that men are less likely to seek help for declining mental health. We also know that early intervention results in much improved outcomes.

This is one of the reasons why I am a ride leader and committee member with Knights of Suburbia, a cycling community that is strongly focused towards improving physical and mental health through cycling, coffee and connection.

The Push-Up Challenge creates an opportunity for us to start important conversations about mental health - conversations that may prompt someone who needs support to ask for it.

Please support me and the important work that is enabled by the Push for better Foundation. Thank you to those who have already donated. For those who can support, the donation link is below ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
