With energy companies paying minimal amounts for the excess power produced and not used going back to the grid, the best way to get the most out of your solar is to make sure you’re using as much of the power you're generating during the day ☀⚡️☀️
Below are our 5 'top tips' to help you maximise the energy produced by your solar system, helping you to reduce your bills even further ⚡️〽️💲
1️⃣ Use one appliance at a time - If you’ve got several appliances running at once, your home may need more energy than your solar panels can provide. Therefore, run one appliance at a time to avoid this!
2️⃣ Make hay while the sun shines - When the sun’s out, you’ve got an immediate and constant supply of free energy being generated, so take advantage of that while you can and use that energy to power those appliances in the home with the highest electricity demand e.g. the dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, A/C, Pool pump etc. These can all be easily equipped with timer switches, so that they run during the day.
3️⃣ Change to LED Lighting - LEDs are the most energy-efficient lighting technology available today, changing to LED lights in place of less efficient lighting sources reduces the amount of energy consumed, allowing you to use your solar panel’s power for other things!
4️⃣ Make use of technology - There are all kinds of apps available that can assist in monitoring your energy usage, from seeing how much power your panels are generating, how much energy your home is consuming to how much you are pulling from the grid! By analysing this you can see any periods where energy use is particularly high and adjust your habits accordingly*
5️⃣ Replace your old appliances - If your home is filled with old appliances, they are most likely using a lot more energy to power them! Modern appliances are much more energy efficient, and with eco settings and timers, you can really reduce/manage consumption.
ℹ Bonus Energy Saving Tip: Turn off standby mode - All electrical devices also consume electricity when they not in use and are on standby. Considering the number of electrical devices in a normal house, the standby consumption can really add up. Therefore, when a device is not in use, you should look to turn it off and unplug it from the socket.
*Please note: a consumption meter may be required to enable you to receive the full suite of analytics.
