It’s ages since I posted but in that time I’ve moved house, had the flu and then covid. It took quite a while to set up my studio in the new house and glass wise, I’ve only managed to get some Christmas trees done for The Riverfront Gallery.
I’ve been doing some more silver work and enamelling. At the moment, it’s silver, enamel and glass combinations which are really inspiring me, I’ve been enjoying experimenting.

We get the most beautiful night skies I’ve ever seen here in Denmark. I get up on a clear night sometimes and just stand and look and think ‘wow God, you are amazing’. I made a platter inspired by the night sky. It’s called starry, starry night (after a technique by Glasshoppa). It’s another one that’s hard to photograph because it has a lot of aventurine glass in it so it really sparkles. I’ve just put it in the Riverfront gallery😊

Its actually been a while since I made any large glass objects because I've been playing and experimenting with embedding silver into glass and also, lately, I've been learning how to enamel on silver.
Both of these are quite difficult to do and I've had mixed results, made lots of mistakes and learnt a lot in the process. Silver affects glass and glass enamels by fuming, changing the colour of the glass and fired enamels, (often into an unattractive shade of yellow/brown). Enamels are also ground down to the consistency of fine sand and if any stray particles end up in the wrong place, it can really take a lot of work to get them off, its also really hard on your eyes. So here is a photo of the first pieces I am quite happy with. The starry night earrings and pendant are fine silver embedded into luminescent glass and the enamel earrings are a technique called Basse-taille with 4 layers of enamel and a dichroic glass drop. These are going in the Riverfront gallery tomorrow.
