Simple renovation to give more room and an upgrade.

Mid 2021 a vibrant couple contacted Grandesign to prepare plans to renovate their existing cottage into a child care centre but the cost of the conversion exceeded the worth of the building. So a completely new build was planned that would both compliment the history of the site and fully accommodate a modern childcare centre with separate areas for different ages both inside and outside for play.

Then the covid year hit and their dreams got swamped in rough seas for a bit but it didn't hold them back from pushing through and making it happen.
As they tell it, their wonderful turn of the century cottage found a new home out in the country and the site was cleared ready for the build to begin. Finally.

And here, I find Early Learning Rituals Instagram page filled with wonderful images of activity and experience for young children with glimpses of a wonderful storybook cottage.
A very fine tribute to a wonderful couple and a young very determined woman with a big dream to fulfill.

New house in the hills to take advantage of the views over the valley opposite and enjoy the solitude of the bush. A large multi-car garage will allow the client to enjoy his hobby of working on vehicles.

Renovating a tired home with wonderful ocean views.
Let's add a big alfresco area to sit out on Sunday afternoons and enjoy the breeze.
Lets add a second storey with a big balcony with an upslope roof to get as much sky as we can.

Growing into its place on the beach.

I called it a high tech beachhouse because it's designed to work naturally with it's orientation, spreading along it's northern axis to let in winter sunshine and exclude the summer sun all day.
With the living area upstairs they enjoy extensive ocean views without having to shut the curtains when the sun is out and hot and now the garden has grown it brings privacy to the downstairs bedrooms.

Truly designed fore shore for sure.
