Welcome back! My Place is reintroducing its original logo.

Since the beginning, the mailbox has been a meaningful symbol for My Place. More than just a logo, it represents home, belonging, and having something that is truly yours.

My Place supports no more than 400 people at any time to live in their own homes or remain in the family home, and to be valued and contributing members of their community. My Place does not operate group homes, day centres or other congregate care services.

Because people’s lives, priorities and circumstances are different, no two My Place support arrangements look the same. Each arrangement is individually designed in consultation with the person and their family.

The second Summit in the 2026 DAWA series explores one of the most significant questions facing many families: what happens when primary carers are no longer able to provide support?
The DAWA Commitments Summit will revisit the key themes from the full-day Summit held on 21 March and explore the Nine Key Findings identified in the Summit Report.
This half-day event will feature:
• A panel of families sharing their lived experience of care transition and planning
• Guest speakers and professionals discussing pathways to make care succession planning less stressful and more certain
• Conversation and collaboration focused on achieving meaningful, positive outcomes for people with intellectual disability and their families
The Summit provides an opportunity to reflect on the findings, hear diverse perspectives, and contribute to discussions that can help shape a more supportive and sustainable future for families navigating care succession and planning.

The 2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme is Living Our Truth, honouring the power of truth-telling, the sharing of knowledge across generations and the importance of telling our stories.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a national celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, held each year on 4 August since 1988. The day is led by SNAICC-National Voice for our Children , the national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peak body representing children, young people and families, and is an opportunity for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the strength, pride and potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

For 2026, Living Our Truth celebrates the voices, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities. It recognises the importance of truth-telling as a foundation for identity, belonging and cultural strength, and honours the role of Elders and community in passing knowledge to the next generation. This year, celebrates children as the next generation of leaders; confident, proud and ready to carry forward the strong voices, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.

Mar Galcerán has spent more than 20 years advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

Mar Galcerán has made history as Spain's first ever parliamentarian with Down syndrome after taking her seat in the regional parliament of Valencia.

Her achievement is also widely recognized as a European first, making her the first person with Down syndrome to serve in a regional parliament in Europe.

A member of Spain's People's Party (PP), Galcerán has spent more than 20 years advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

Speaking about her historic election, she said she hopes it will help break stereotypes and show that people with Down syndrome are fully capable of contributing to public life.

Her appointment marks an important milestone for disability representation, inclusion, and equal opportunities in politics.
