Once you're comfortable with feeling uncomfortable, growth happens.

Are you willing to feel uncomfortable for 5 minutes?

If you want to gain confidence and overcome your fear of public speaking, reframe your thoughts to...

"Fear is just suppressed excitement."

Exercising is easier once you’ve started the workout. Conversations are easier once you’re already talking. Public speaking is easier once you’re in the middle of it.

Many opportunities in life will elude you if you’re not willing to be a little uncomfortable at first.

Whether you need to master the art of public speaking, or if you need to learn how to present your ideas in the most effective, impactful way, you should practice when it doesn't matter so that you're ready when it does matter.

JFK made a famous quote that is still relevant today. He said: "The time to fix the roof is when it's not raining."

Developing your speaking skills is exactly the same.

The key is to build confidence first... https://davidprice.com/public-speaking-coach/

Meeting Mastery Tip #85

Adopt the 40-70 mindset for decision-making.
This is often associated with Colin Powell, the former U.S. Secretary of State and four-star general. Powell emphasized that leaders should make decisions when they have between 40% and 70% of the necessary information.

Colin Powell’s 40-70 Rule
If you make a decision with less than 40% of the information, you are likely acting on too little data, increasing the chances of failure.
If you wait until you have more than 70%, you may have delayed too long, missing opportunities.

This principle encourages leaders to balance risk and decisiveness, making informed choices without waiting for total certainty. It builds on \ the idea that good leaders must take action, trust their judgment, and adapt as new information emerges.

Every interaction you have is an opportunity to show your leadership skills.

Whether it’s speaking around the meeting table, in an elevator, or at a function, how you frame and react in situations shows your true leadership skills.

These skills can be polished and elevated when you hone your communication and meeting skills.

And this takes practice.

I was working with a large law firm that had been asked to make a presentation to a bank that was reviewing its legal advice situation. It was work worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to the law firm.

Four of the partners were selected to do the joint presentation. Their task was essentially to pitch to the bank.

Because this presentation was potentially "make or break" for the firm, they agreed that significant time was needed to spend on the preparation. They developed a great presentation but then realised they could not possibly deliver it well without a lot of practice.

This is the depth of preparation they went into...

* The team of 4 practised individually
* They also practised in an empty room about 20 times
* Each lunchtime a different set of staff was rostered to be “the audience”. The team gave the entire presentation to the rostered audience every day for about 3 weeks – that’s 15 times.

So the whole presentation was done 35 times overall.

When I tell this story, some people say that it's just too many, where did they get the time? The answer lay in the importance of the presentation.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 $𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐤 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐤.

If you have a presentation coming up that must be successful, I'd love to chat.

Prepare your presentation this way, there's only one direction for it to go.

There are seven important elements to any presentation, but let’s get down to basics and begin, well, right at the beginning.

Get this bit right first, you’ll reach your goal of having a well-polished presentation much sooner.

1. “WHAT” you say = the DESIGN or content of your presentation

2. “HOW” you say it = the DELIVERY of your presentation

Most newcomers spend more time on the first, and less on the second. Don’t make this rookie mistake.

Things will point in the right direction when you start this way. Well actually, this is how you should prepare EVERY presentation you do.

Meeting Mastery Tip #88

Allow anonymous input.
In really important decisions, especially where office politics are involved, allow anonymous polls to ger honest feedback. You may not like the result, but it’s a great way to take an accurate temperature of a meeting in regards to an issue.
