Polkadot + Moonbeam is a pocket-sized jazz duo in Perth that brings a romantic twist to the unassuming ukulele, adding vocals in sweet harmony, a swinging bass and the occasional melodica. Named after Frank Sinatra’s first hit song with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1940, Polkadot + Moonbeam performs a repertoire of jazz and evergreen classics, from luscious ballads to lively swing numbers and lat

in grooves. They seek to share their hearts through their music, always with a touch of nostalgia and a lot of love.

We loved playing for Cottlesloe Volunteers Sundowner. The glow you see here is from the actual sunset we had the pleasure playing against. Special thanks to for having us, we loved playing for everyone and meeting these lovely ladies. (Swipe to see) such a nice surprise to meet fellow Solaris Cancer Care vollies.

👼 we loved playing at Evening in the Park as organised by for Harmony Week. Thanks for having Polkadot + Moonbeam, and also to all who came, it was so wonderful playing/singing in 8 languages including Hawaiian 🌺 for you! Here’s Didi inviting everyone to come ‘fly’ with us!

In March we couldn’t imagine making it this far. But we have. Merry Christmas our dear friends. If you’re reading this, we are sending you virtual xoxo. Despite all the hard bits, we found it easier to give thanks than ever before. They say pain teaches empathy, but truly it also expands our hearts. One of the many silver liningssss for us this year is that live streaming isn’t as scary or massive an operation as we had thought. In fact it opened up new possibilities to reach our friends from all over the world. We had missed them from all our residencies and adventures about before Perth, and it took this impetus to do the uncomfortable thing. But it’s so worth it. Now it’s the best. We can actually have 🍵 ☕️ together, play and sing along.

So join us, our families, all our loved ones, come join us to unbox, unravel some fun. It’s about time.

Ps: it’s gonna be a weeeee bit different, sit tight! 🥰🤩

We love playing for Christmas events. Accompanying Spanish teacher Roberto who taught everyone Feliz Navidad; and also backing Bahasa Indonesia students Margaret and Trish who performed 2 classic Indonesian folk tunes.

Congrats also to Paquita (lady with yellow scarf) just published her first picture book during covid! 👏

Behind you can see collage, line and pastel work by the students, as well as an ikebana installation.

Such a beautiful community at South Perth Learning Centre - blessed to be a part this evening.

At Mia and Cheyne’s beautiful ceremony, we played a theme of the cosmos: sun, moon, stars. ☀️ 🌙 ✨ And it was as magical as it sounds.

That concentration on Didi’s face - when you know it’s the next dim7 you are soloing/improvising over. Can you name one song that uses all 3 diminished chords, and brilliantly too? We played it for their signing. Hint: we hear it at the movies. 🎥 🍿
