BUSINESS UPDATE – MOVING FORWARD

After careful consideration, we have made the decision that we will no longer be taking on new builders for ongoing site-clean services.

We want to make it clear that nothing changes for our existing clients. We will continue looking after our current builders and completing their site cleans as usual. We will also continue carrying out our work for landscapers, concreters and other existing clients.

With the continued increases in landfill levy and tip fees, the cost of disposing of building waste continues to rise. We have constantly had to adjust our pricing to compensate for these increases, and unfortunately it has reached a point where taking on additional site-clean clients carries too much financial risk.

As these costs increase, so do the amounts we have to outlay before being paid. When the true cost of disposal isn’t always understood or accepted by clients, it makes this type of work increasingly difficult to operate sustainably.

Because of this, rather than continuing to expand our site-clean division, we are putting that growth into earthworks and developing it as the primary focus of our business.

Earthworks has always been a large part of what we do, particularly house pads and slab cleans, and we are now investing heavily into expanding our capabilities. We have larger machinery coming that will allow us to take on much larger earthmoving projects while continuing to provide the residential services our business has been built around.

This direction also works hand-in-hand with Scarey One Sand Supplies & Cartage. Expanding our earthworks operations allows us to better utilise our own trucks and cartage capabilities for the supply and removal of materials, bringing both sides of the business together.

This allows us to provide a more complete service — from sand and material supply and cartage, through to house pads, site preparation, earthworks and slab cleans.

Our main focus moving forward will be:

• House pads & site preparation
• Slab cleans
• Sand & material supply
• Cartage
• Earthworks for landscapers & concreters
• Residential earthworks
• General excavation & earthmoving
• Larger-scale earthmoving projects

This isn’t about stepping away from what we do. It’s about developing the business in a direction that allows the different parts of Scarey One to work together more efficiently and positions us to take on larger and more diverse earthmoving projects.

We greatly appreciate all of our existing builders and clients and will continue servicing them moving forward. We simply won’t be taking on additional builders for ongoing site-clean services at this stage.

We’re looking forward to the next stage for Scarey One Earthmoving and Scarey One Sand Supplies & Cartage, with a bigger focus on earthworks, bigger machinery and bigger projects.

We are seeking an experienced Earthworks/Bobcat Operator to join our team.
We are a busy earthmoving company primarily servicing the residential construction industry, completing earthworks from start to finish. Our work is varied and includes house pads, demolitions, slab cleans, site cleans, grano and paving preparation, sand deliveries and general earthworks.
About the Role

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential construction earthworks and Bobcat operation who is confident working across a variety of residential sites.
Day-to-day work will include:
House pads
Slab cleans
Site cleans
Grano and paving preparation
General Bobcat and earthworks
Other duties as required to get the job completed
What We’re Looking For

Minimum 2 years’ relevant earthworks/Bobcat experience
HC Driver’s Licence – essential
Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
Reliable and able to work independently when required
Takes pride in their work and equipment
Positive attitude and works well as part of a team
Willing to get in and help wherever needed to get the job done
We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a team, takes pride in producing quality work and can be relied upon to get the job done properly.
