On the back of sharing invaluable insights on the panel for Future Female Leaders' STEM Day in May, Emma Edwards, MMS Chief Development Officer, plans to again at the upcoming NT Mining in the Territory Conference across 2nd & 3rd September 2026. This time, Emma will be speaking about key MMS case studies and operations.

Most people hear "contract mining" and think tonnes moved. Emma sees it differently. "Where tech services delivers value is by maximising ore recovery. It's not just about mining tons, it's about getting the most value out of the ore deposit."

Emma grew up in the goldfields and has worked across the entire value chain, from greenfields exploration through to production, shipping and logistics.

That's the thinking behind MMS's technical services team, who are constantly chasing smarter ways to work that better optimise the mine, from quicker geological modelling to faster assay techniques like photon assays.

The Northern Territory event, held at the Darwin Convention Centre, brings together three leading conferences, SEAAOC, Mining the Territory, and Clean Energy & Digital Infrastructure, under one roof, with over 900 industry professionals and 100+ speakers exploring the Northern Territory's growing resources, energy and infrastructure opportunities.

Brand-new gear, straight to work.

Our new Hitachi EX1200 tramming into the pit and getting stuck into the dirt at ESD. Having the latest fleet on site is about reliability, maximum uptime, and giving our operators the best tools to hit production targets safely. (The clean paint is a bonus!)

Three brand-new Hitachi excavators joined the MMS fleet over the last two months: two EX1200s and an EX2000, fresh off the factory floor in Perth.

Getting machines of this size to remote sites across WA and the NT takes real coordination. Using our MMS heavy haulage fleet, we handled transport directly to site. Once on the ground, our crews worked alongside the Hitachi crews to assemble, commission, and put them straight to work.

One EX1200 and the EX2000 are now operating in the Northern Territory, with the second EX1200 working at ESD in WA.

Our strong OEM partnerships and in-house transport mean we control the timeline from delivery to first load.

Record-breaking months don't happen by accident.

May 2026, marked our best month of production since operations began at the Nobles Project, with the team delivering an incredible 116,024 BCMs ahead of schedule, a massive 40% increase on the baseline plan.

This milestone was achieved on the back of close collaboration between the Tennant Mines planning team and the MMS operations team, who worked together to identify key opportunities to optimise the schedule and safely bring movement forward.

Delivering these kinds of results in Central Australia comes down to partnership and having the right people who know the region. A massive part of our success at Nobles is our shared commitment to building a strong contingent of local Northern Territory operators and workers.

Nobles Project Manager, Frank Civello, credits the achievement to the tight-knit team culture and connection to the local area:

Brand new Hitachi EX1200. Perth to Tennant Creek.

When the scope expanded at Tennant Mines Nobles Project, we needed a heavy hitter on site fast. Thanks to our strong partnership with Hitachi, we secured this brand-new EX1200, loaded it up, and hauled it 3,000 km right to the centre of Australia to get straight to work.

A 120-tonne mobilisation like this doesn't just happen. Having our own dedicated fleet of heavy-haulage floats means we control the logistics from start to finish. We don't wait around for transport—we move quickly, get to site ahead of schedule, and start moving dirt sooner.

Rehabilitation work at the Myhree project, part of our East Kalgoorlie Joint Venture with Black Cat Syndicate Limited, is officially complete.

Achieving world-class environmental outcomes relies on foresight, a highly practical approach, and an experienced team capable of executing smart, streamlined rehabilitation solutions.

By embedding progressive rehabilitation directly into the active mine plan from day one, the MMS crew delivered a seamless finish alongside ongoing production.

There has been a contract expansion for MMS with Tennant Mines for their project. This growth sees MMS moving into several additional pits, including Juno, Golden Forty, Golden Kangaroo, and Kimberley Kid.

This expansion is the result of the strong synergy and working relationship we have developed with Tennant Mines. By focusing on being commercial in nature and hitting our production targets, we have been able to scale our involvement in the project significantly.

To support the increased workload, we have mobilised additional fleet to the site immediately to begin work across the new pits.
