5 Ways to RUIN Your DMs and Never Close Another Sale 😱
After coaching over 100,000 online marketers, I can tell you that a LOT of business is LOST in the DMs. 😳
Your content gets them there. Your DMs lose them. Stop making these mistakes… ⤵️
1️⃣ Copy & pasting the same script to everyone.
They can FEEL it. If your message sounds like it was sent to 47 other people that day, their guard goes up. People want a REAL conversation, not a pitch template.
2️⃣ Leading with your product or opportunity FIRST.
Nobody wakes up hoping a stranger will slide into their DMs and pitch them something. 😂 Ask questions. Be a human first. Show genuine interest in THEM before talking about what you sell.
3️⃣ Following up like a bill collector.
There’s a difference between follow-up and stalking someone’s inbox every 3 days with “just circling back!” 😬 If they didn’t respond, repeating yourself louder isn’t the answer. Engage with their content. Add value. THEN follow up when you have something relevant to say.
4️⃣ Writing a novel nobody asked for.
Six paragraphs. Your life story. Company history. Commission breakdown. Three links. 😵💫
They opened it, saw the wall of text and CLOSED IT. 😂
Keep your first message SHORT. Conversational. One question. One thought. Invite a reply, not a reading assignment.
5️⃣ Not DMing at ALL.
This might be the BIGGEST one. 👏
People post content all day long but never actually START conversations.
Your content opens the door.
The DM is where the conversation happens.
And the conversation is where the SALE happens. 💰
If people are engaging with your content and you’re never starting genuine conversations with them, you’re doing all the hard work and skipping one of the most important parts.
Your DMs are the closest thing you have to a face-to-face conversation on social media.
Treat them that way. 🫶
