This post is to share some important news regarding the future of Tempo Tax and Accounting. After nine years as an independent business, Tempo Tax and Accounting is merging with Satori Wealth.

The merger took effect from Monday 28 July 2025, and the new business will use the existing branding of Satori Wealth and be led by Satori Wealth’s founder, Shayne Pye.

Tempo’s accountant, Catherine Eliott-Lockhart, will be joining Satori Wealth on a full-time basis, and I will be continuing as a consultant.

I acknowledge this may come as a shock, and it has come about quickly for us, too. But as soon as we realised the benefits that would come from the merger, it didn’t make sense to wait.

I’d been looking for this kind of arrangement for some time, as I genuinely believe it will be in the best interests of our client base. I’ve had unsolicited approaches several times before but this was the first one that really made sense.

The merged entity will feature eight staff, and, given Satori Wealth already features a financial planning division, will enable us to provide a more holistic service. Shayne’s 20+ years running accounting practices means he has a vast array of knowledge, and the combination of his team with Tempo’s means you will receive an enhanced level of service and support.

In a practical sense, companies who use Tempo Tax and Accounting as a registered office will be asked to sign forms to update ASIC with the new contact details, whilst the change of tax agents will be administered by Satori Wealth’s admin team. As this is a merger, historical documentation will be transferred to the new entity.

For those of you whose personal documents we hold, those documents will either be transferred to the Satori Wealth offices, sent back to you or destroyed (if older than five years).

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your trust and loyalty over the years. It has been a privilege to serve you and your accounting needs and I am 100% comfortable that you will continue to be in safe hands.

Thank you once again for being a valued client of Tempo Tax and Accounting, and we wish you continued success in the future.

Shayne and the team at Satori Wealth will reach out to you in coming weeks, but in the meantime, if you have any questions, you can contact them at 08 9202 8500 or [email protected]

It was J Awards Day today, and in celebration, here's me at the 2007 J Awards looking really nervous despite the fact I already knew we weren't going to win.

My band, Institut Polaire, had been nominated for the Unearthed Act of the Year and a few of us decided to fly over from Perth for it. And Triple J told us to save our money and stay home because because we weren't going to win. We went anyway.

When you're a trumpet-playing accountant and you get invited to a music awards night, you go. If for no other reason than to chat to the likes of Richard Kingsmill and Caroline Tran and just tell them how much it meant to me to be there, that they liked our music. (My other band, Superengine, was also on medium rotation at the time, which was something we never expected at all.)

I don't play as much as I used to, but it's been great helping a bunch of young (and not so young) people in the arts and entertainment industries navigate their way through a pretty sh*tty time over the past couple of years. From the solo artist who's just signed to a bloody good label, to the event promoter who's barely hung on, to the NFP ensemble who have taken a few hits but come out the other side stronger than ever, you should be bloody proud of how you've got through, and we look forward to being able to keep on assisting for many years to come.
