With COVID-19, Solaris Cancer Care - a charity I’m passionate about supporting and I represent as a Board member, has had to close its face to face services across WA hospitals and the Cottesloe Wellness centre. Fortunately the team was able to quickly bring some of their essential services online.
Continuing to provide counselling and support services to all our clients during the COVID-19 pandemic is vital. Solaris is supporting the vulnerable part of our community who are already immune-compromised and dealing with cancer in isolation.
Solaris relies on the generosity of donations from the community and the delivery of these services by 350 qualified volunteers. Solaris is the only WA based organisation providing these vital services. Without our usual fundraising activities our income has severely dropped. In response we are have just launched our ‘May we Survive’ Campaign.
In 2019, Solaris Cancer Care provided more than 28,000 treatments, valued at over $1.74 million, to cancer patients, carers and families in Western Australia. We would like to continue helping those people touched by cancer.
There is page with a number of other options for “How You can Help” at www.solarismws.com.au. Here is a link also if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation: www.solaristhrive.com.au
Solaris delivers more than $1.74M worth of health care in complementary therapies free to cancer patients and carers per year.
