This biz is just a million of my weirdo tendencies stacked on top of each other🤣

And flicking through this, I can see that 99% of the things I do regularly are filed in my brain under “shortcuuuts”

Cus I can find a way to do something faster (and make the result BETTER), I’ll take it…

That’s what happens when you’ve got 15 hours a week to get s**t done and 2 kids who are determined to break your will to live before breakfast time.

Tell me, any weird things you can relate to?? Anyone else Pavlov’s dog? 😂😂😂

No one calls a midwife who creates a birth course a “sell out” (just saying🙈).

But the second an educator sells what she knows, it’s suddenly a bit too much.

A bit too selfish.

I honestly felt that way at first too.

I’d shrink when a colleague would say they bought my resources (just tell me what you want and I’ll put it on the shared drive!)

Funnily enough, I had the same moment happen last week when I was parent helper at my son’s school. His old kindy teacher told me she bought some Julia Chalmers stuff and I was like “NOOOO!!!” - give me your email!!

Almost a decade in and I still flinch.

But maybe that’s the whole point.

That involuntary reflex is the same one that made me great in the classroom. I’m a giver. I’m a creator. I’m a helper.

It didn’t change when I started charging for my work, it just stopped being the thing that held me back.

Now my stuff is in classrooms I’ll never walk into, in countries I’ve never been to, selling & serving on days I’m nowhere near my laptop.

It didn’t make me a sell-out.

It helped me make a bigger impact.

So if you’re sitting on something you *KNOOOOW* you’re incredible at, and telling yourself that selling it is wrong, it’s not.

And if you’re already selling and sometimes flinching when someone mentions it... that’s a sign your stuff is worth buying (and send them my way).

P.S One challenge I’ve faced over the last 10 years is that no one really gets both sides of this space. The big AF ambition AND the heart we have too. That’s why I’m creating the Education Business School - where we get to have both. Comment EBS ‘cus spaces are filling to the waitlist soon.

My first thought writing this... “NO ONE CARES, JULIA”.

But I’m doing it anyway, for two reasons.

One. Incase I’ve tricked you with my “greige” and you don’t actually know how quirky & cool my biz is (I make rain clouds out of shaving foam for a living).

Or

Two. You’ve gotten sucked into the machine of sameness that is social media and suddenly realise that you’re diluting everything that made you, YOU. And maybe it takes this post to realise it.

I was sat at the dinner table with my hubby last night, and I said, “I just don’t want people to think I’m one of those weird coaches coaching coaches, who also coach coaches”. (Sorry, you’re not actually weird - but it’s not who I am)

‘Cus spoiler alert: I don’t make most of my income as a biz mentor.

I make it off a business I built for teachers almost a decade ago, that I run almost 90% on auto-pilot.

One that still helps hundreds of thousands of teachers globally get on top of their planning & go home on time.

…..annnnnd still makes multiple 6-figures (which I am so, so grateful for 🥹).

I love being quirky.
I love being creative.
Annnnd I also LOVE my snazzy systems.

It’s that combo that means I’m telling the truth when I say, no one understands this space like me x

Last month my biz made $25k but what did I SPEND to make that?

Because it’s really important to me that when I share the hours I work (15 wooo), and the money I make, you can see all the parts that run behind it.

Last year when my daughter got kicked out of daycare (yes, really) and I was suddenly thrust into “You’re now a stay at home mum AND 2 x biz owner”, something had to change.

I needed to work less.
I wanted to keep the money I was making.
(We needed it, but I also liked it A LOT, okayyy?).

So I knew I had to invest in two things.
1. Things that could save me time.
2. Things that would actually make me more money.

I wanted to be a present parent and I also wanted to keep the income from my biz. Especially ‘cus I had no teaching job to crawl back to anymore.

So now every month, I like to pressure test if what I’m doing is actually working - both from an earnings and an expenses perspective - and share them with you!

Anyway… anyone looking for a nanny position? 😂

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve watched someone’s eyes glaze over mid-explanation...

Which stage are you in right now? (We’ve all been stage 4 at a family bbq🫠).

Million dollar dreams? Here’s what you need to work on next, for exactly the stage you’re at 👉🏽

If you’re here, I’m guessing it’s ‘cus you have a million dollar vision (and a mission to match)…

Hey, you’re my kinda human.

Because it’s my *life’s work* to help you turn your fave parts of working with schools, parents or kids into a business that makes you more money AND a difference in the world.

[and is set up to run as auto-pilot as possible so you can do all that working the hours you want]

Back when I was a teacher, I never realised how much potential I had.

Until I turned what I loved into over 2 million dollars, and helping hundreds of thousands of educators feel less overwhelmed in the classroom.

If I’m honest, I had no idea what I was doing at the time and I kinda built the plane as I was flying it.

There were so many random strategies I was doing thinking it was what I *needed* to do, without even realising I was wasting time on the wrong stuff.

Start an Amazon affiliate.
Look at Pinterest. Maybe Etsy?
Get a fancy photo shoot.
What about Tik Tok?
Get to 500 products!!

And I only know that NOW, because that I’ve been through every single stage myself. Right from $0 all the way through to 7-figures.

So when women come to me ready to make their first $100 or their NEXT $100k, I know exactly what they need to focus on next.

P.S if you know you’re onto something and you know it could be working harder for you, comment EBS and join the waitlist for the Education Business School.
