Keep our people safe!

When encountering roadworks or construction zones, it's crucial to exercise caution and adhere to any posted speed limits or instructions provided by roadwork signs and workers. Speeding through these areas can lead to accidents, injury, or damage to property.

Remember, roadworks are often in place to improve the infrastructure and ensure safer driving conditions for everyone. Please drive responsibly and follow all traffic rules to help maintain road safety.

It's crucial to prioritize safety when approaching and passing through worksites and roadwork areas.

Here are a few reasons why you should avoid speeding through worksites:

Worker Safety: Speeding through a worksite puts the lives of workers at risk. Construction zones often have limited visibility, and workers may be moving around, operating heavy machinery, or handling materials. By driving at a safe speed, you allow yourself more time to react to unexpected situations and prevent accidents, letting our workers and you, get home safely.

Unpredictable Conditions: Worksites can have uneven surfaces, debris, or temporary signage, which may require you to adjust your driving behaviour. Driving at a reduced speed enables you to navigate these conditions more effectively and prevents potential damage to your vehicle.

Reduced Stopping Distance: When you drive at higher speeds, it takes longer for your vehicle to come to a complete stop. This increased stopping distance can be critical in a worksite where unexpected obstacles or worker movements may occur. Slowing down allows you to maintain better control and react promptly to any potential hazards.

Legal Consequences: Speeding through a worksite is not only unsafe but can also lead to legal consequences.

Remember, the safety of workers and drivers should always be a top priority. Slowing down and being cautious in worksites not only protects lives but also ensures a smoother flow of traffic and minimises the potential for accidents or injuries.

"I pledge to drive as if my loved ones are on the road ahead.

I will remove all distractions and never use my mobile phone while driving.

I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

I will protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harmโ€™s way, by slowing down and giving them the space they need to be safe."

Will you Pledge to Drive so Others Survive - https://roadsafetyweek.com.au/

Thereโ€™s no money involved here, only a pledge to keep our road workers, and others on the road safe. Please feel free to pass this on, and help to spread the message.
