Action Drill & Blast’s Indigenous workforce participation rate has reached a new high!
Our General Manager, Jeff Sleep, recently shared with the business that as of July 2026, our Indigenous workforce participation rate has almost doubled since 2023. This impressive increase is mostly thanks to our Indigenous Trainee Program which commenced in June 2023. This program was introduced to increase employment opportunities to support local Indigenous communities.
In May 2023, the participation rate was 2.36%. Our first trainees commenced at South Walker Creek in June that year, in partnership with Stanmore Resources. Following its success, we introduced the same program at the Karara mine with Karara Mining Limited in September 2025.
Now with both programs in full swing, we’re sitting at above 4% and have been above 3% every month since August 2025, even with natural turnover and graduation.
In the coming months, we aim to expand this program to our other sites and extend these opportunities to more local communities.
