Adaptive Workplace Solutions is thrilled to welcome Veronica to our team! Veronica is a compassionate and experienced professional with over ten years of practice supporting vulnerable individuals, young people and families through complex life experiences. She currently has capacity to take referrals for psychological treatment and assessment services. Her previous work as a Senior Child, Youth & Family Practitioner involved intensive support for families navigating child protection, out-of-home care and reunification, with a strong focus on attachment and amplifying young people’s voices. Originally trained as a psychologist in Colombia, she has delivered individual and group interventions across disability, trauma and community mental health settings. Fluent in Spanish and English, and drawing on her lived experience as a migrant, Veronica brings warmth, cultural sensitivity and deep respect for each person’s story to her work.

Wear it Purple Day Celebrations (and a surprise early birthday celebration for Cass!) in the Plympton Park office today! Was great to see everyone dressed in purple to show their support for LGBTQIA+ youth 💜
If you’d like to join in, the official day is tomorrow, so it’s not too late to wear something purple tomorrow and show your support. There are also heaps of resources and information online, check out www.wearitpurple.org or www.minus18.org.au ☺️

By wearing purple on the 29th August 2025, Australians demonstrate to LGBTQIA+ young people that they are celebrated and respected, acknowledging all have the right to be proud of who they are and who they are becoming. AWS are celebrating a day early, next Thursday 28th August when we are all together as a team. Anyone visiting our office on this day are welcomed to wear purple to show their support. This year’s theme is "Bold Voices, Bright Futures", with artwork by Lee Evatt (He/Them), winner of Wear It Purple’s Youth Action Council (YAC) Design Competition to create a campaign message and artwork in celebration of LGBTQIA+ people openly and visibly achieving their dreams in sport, art, science and more! Kelly and Cass are excited and re-energised by the opportunity to revisit Explain Pain and attend Graded Motor Imagery (GMI) training with the NOI Group over the last three days. It is a proud moment to see all of the innovative work coming from Adelaide clinicians and researchers and opportunities for collaboration between a range of health professionals. It was reaffirming to see that our approach building individualised education for clients in line with a constructivist framework remains consistent with the current evidence and expand our knowledge into future applications – such as mirror box therapy.
One of the biggest shifts has been rethinking the language we use. For years we’ve spoken about pain management, this training highlighted the importance of framing many of these strategies as pain treatment. Some interventions, when applied effectively, have strong evidence for producing analgesic effects. The language we use matters, which has been a great take home!

We are looking forward to bringing this refreshed perspective back to the people we work with.

Fun morning work set up (not that I love golf)!

I’ve been working with a client with severe chronic hand pain. We have been working on some graded desensitisation and exposure using combined input from myself and the fabulous Megan Scott, Exercise Physiology at Guardian!

Our joint client identified a couple of weeks ago that she would like to be able to play mini golf with her family. So, this is the plan today. We will start with some graded exposure and work our way up (hopefully) to a shot or two on this.

Today we farewell Suz as our Office Manager and say thank you for an amazing 7+ years! Even though Suz will no longer be in the office with us each day, it’s not goodbye, as she will be continuing on as our Finance Officer remotely while travelling Australia and will join us from time to time for some casual work to cover staff leave. All the best Suz, we will miss you 🩵
