Which events are you planning to jump into this season? Keep in mind the best way to get motivated is to pick something where you’ll feel a little ‘out of your depth’ because that will get you training. Summer Rip is full but we are assembling a waiting list that may turn into a 2nd trip… so if you are keen you’ll need to email to get on that list. Have a great weekend everyone. 📣🧐🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️READY? If you are not sure whether you can handle our 6km swim, keep in mind that the tide will be well and truly in your favour. If predictions are accurate ( and they usually are) then it will feel more like 4.5km and it will feel fantastic to have that push !

📣📣🏊‍♂️🏊SUMMER RIP 2027 update. For those of you interested in summer 2027, we have started a waiting list as our Feb 6 trip has now sold out. We may run another one or you might get a spot if someone withdraws. The picture is a blast from the past - our largest crossing back in 2018. That day 140 swimmers crossed. It wasn’t without some challenges but was a memorable day that is for sure!

📆🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️Planning your season? Here are two dates to add. ** ESCAPE FROM QUARANTINE: 13.3.2027 - 6km tidal swim that starts with a ferry-jump ! (Inaugural event, enter in October). ** WINTER RIP SWIM: 24.7.2027 - the tradition continues (booking deposit required in November). Both events have a back up date the next day. Happy dreaming and planning.

ESCAPE FROM QUARANTINE - A NEW 6KM 'FERRY-SWIM'. MARCH 13, 2027, SORRENTO

Hi swimmers. We are very excited to let you know about a new event that will be happening in March next year! It is a 6km tide-assisted swim from Quarantine station to Sorrento Pier. You will be taken to the start by the ferry and you hop off there and start your swim! Entries will open in October. There is an event website at www.escapefromquarantine.com.au and Instagram page too, so you can follow there for updates! We hope you get behind this one!

Saturday 18 July Winter Rip Swim: 2 weeks ago, 26 swimmers took on the Winter Rip Swim crossing. It certainly was a memorable occasion. Everyone was successful and one swimmer notched up her 10th overall crossing. At a post event celebration we celebrated the event and had the chance to talk about the significance of these achievements. Keep in mind that some of these swimmers had waited over a year to take this on after our 2025 crossing was cancelled (unfairly) by Safe Transport Victoria. It has been a big year for our RipSwim project. There have been significant bureaucratic challenges; but we have faced them head on and shown that clear-headed thinking and evidence-based reasoning will always win over a reactive and misinformed approach. Thanks to everyone who has supported the event whether actively or quietly in the background. On we go.

There are some photos that say a lot. Here is a winter Rip Swim finisher being greeted by his daughter. While there is joy upon completion, there is also a sense of relief (especially from families). This is a thing I love to see. It makes everything worthwhile. 😀 Russell Charters
