🌿 WE MIGHT BE SMALL, BUT WE'RE RATHER PARTICULAR!

Did you know that our main Ernest Hill vineyard covers just 16 acres?

We're not a sprawling w**e empire with vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see.

We're a boutique family w**ery with a beautiful little patch of Hunter Valley soil and a rather serious commitment to what grows in it.

We keep our yields low, hand-pick most of our grapes and put plenty of care into every vintage.

Because when you're small, every bunch matters. 🍇

And we'd much rather make a smaller amount of w**e we're proud of than a whole lot of w**e we're not.

That's the Ernest Hill way.

🍷 A TALE OF TWO CHARDONNAYS!

Same grape. Same w**ery. Two very different personalities!

Meet two members of our Ernest Hill Chardonnay family.

🐔 Chicken Shed Chardonnay — Our easygoing character. Lightly oaked, with subtle fruit flavours and just a little toastiness.

👑 Alexander Chardonnay — The more sophisticated sibling. Richer, fuller and showing off those lovely French oak influences.

Think of them as siblings.

One turns up to the family barbecue in shorts and thongs.

The other arrives wearing linen and brings the fancy cheese. 😂

Both have their place at the table!

Running a small family w**ery means you get to meet some pretty wonderful people.

The visitors who stumble across us for the first time.

The familiar faces who return whenever they're in the Hunter.

The w**e club members who've been supporting us for years.

And the people who recommend our little cellar door to their friends and family.

Every visit, recommendation, w**e order and kind word means something to a small business like ours.

So today, we simply wanted to say thank you.

For supporting Ernest Hill, for sharing our w**es and for helping us continue doing what we love.

🍷 MONDAY W**E TIP!

Here's something that might surprise you…

Serving white w**e straight from a very cold fridge isn't always the best way to enjoy it.

Why?

Because when w**e is extremely cold, some of its lovely aromas and flavours can become harder to detect.

Lighter, crisp whites are generally wonderful served chilled, while fuller-bodied whites can benefit from being served slightly warmer.

The trick is finding that happy middle ground.

So next time you're enjoying a glass of white w**e, try letting it warm slightly in the glass and see what happens.

You might discover something new!

And if you've ever put a bottle in the freezer for a quick chill and forgotten about it…

Well, that's another conversation entirely. 😂

And we suspect this might cause a little controversy. 😂

**Do you put your red w**e in the fridge?**

Some people wouldn't dream of it.

Others swear by giving their reds a little chill, especially as the Hunter Valley starts warming up!

And then there's the person who puts absolutely EVERYTHING in the fridge because, well… it's w**e and they like it cold. 🤷‍♀️

The truth is, some lighter reds can be rather lovely served slightly chilled, particularly on a warm spring afternoon.

So we're throwing this one over to you.

You don't need to know your tannins from your Tempranillo to enjoy a w**e tasting.

You don't need to swirl your glass like you're auditioning for a w**e documentary.

And you certainly don't need to come armed with fancy w**e terminology.
At Ernest Hill, we believe w**e tasting should be enjoyable, relaxed and, occasionally, a little educational.

Ask questions. Try something different. Discover what you like.

And if your tasting notes consist of "Ooh, that's nice!" — that's perfectly acceptable too. 😂
