David makes the wine. Sherry makes sure there’s more to the experience than what’s in the glass.

At Pothana Vineyards, that balance is a big part of what makes the place what it is.

We make approachable wines for everyday drinking, but at the centre of it all, we’re farmers. 🌿

A lot of people are surprised to learn that the elegance of the wines they drink and enjoy, starts with understanding the land, looking after the vineyard, and giving the fruit and the wine the time they need to develop.

David brings decades of winemaking experience to that process. Sherry brings the warmth and hospitality that makes sharing those wines feel just as considered as making them.

What do 30-year-old Chardonnay vines bring to the glass? 🥂

At Pothana Vineyards in Belford, our Old Vines Chardonnay comes from mature, low-yielding vines that have had decades to settle into the site. 🌿

The fruit is hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, then fermented and matured in French oak. 🪵

The aim is not to cover the vineyard character, but to give the wine structure and texture around what was already there.

🍋 In the glass: citrus and peach fruit, lemon zest, fresh acidity and toasty oak.

A wine shaped as much by where it grows as by what happens after harvest. ✨

Pinot Noir has a reputation for being difficult everywhere it grows. We didn't try to make it easier.

Here's why the hardest grape in our range might be the one most worth it.

Our Old Vines Pinot Noir comes from mature vines at Pothana in Belford. Years of careful vineyard management have allowed the vines to produce fruit with balance, concentration and a true sense of place. Bright red fruit up front, something savoury underneath, a finish that doesn't try to prove anything.

Turns out difficult grapes don't need easier conditions. They need older vines and more patience than most people are willing to give them.
