Our first drop!

That’s right, the time is here for the team to sample our very first Andrew Kenny vintage.

Kicking off with our 2026 Riesling, the team couldn’t be more excited with the flavour profile. Bottling is scheduled for next week.

This June long-weekend is fast approaching and we are excited to share our hours:

- Sat 6th June, OPEN 10 - 4
- Sun 7th June, OPEN 10 - 4
- Mon 8th June, CLOSED

Weather is set to be sunny but cold (don't hold us to it!) so come along for a family fun day and relax by the firepit's. We have many games to keep young and old happy, and plenty of space for your fur-baby to join you. Not to mention we have a tasty providore fridge, filled with scrumptious Cheese, dips and more. You can build your own platter or our team can whip one up for you. 🧀

See you at Cellar Door

Rain, hail or shine - the team are busy in the vines.

Today we’re giving our I5 block - the Sangiovese block (the beautiful grape behind our Rose) a water efficiency upgrade! We’ve pulled out the big ‘fan’ ... or the ‘Drip tube winder’ as it’s more appropriately known as to recycle some young drip tube from a Merlot block we are removing.

Whilst it feels funny to be working on water strategy in the rain, this is an important upgrade to ensure our beloved Sangiovese block gets the most efficient water management in the peak of summer.

Great work Harry, Kym, Darren, Steph and James.

From terrible bathtub chardonnay, to crafting our 2026 wines.. We’ve got someone to introduce you to.

That’s right, we’ve got some exciting news… we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Kenny, our fabulous new consultant winemaker. With Ang sipping into retirement, Andrew has taken the reins. Originally from the Adelaide Hills, he and his wife, Victoria moved to the Clare Valley 11 years ago.

In keeping with our team series, we sat down with Andrew so you can get to know who is behind the 2026 wines you’ll soon be enjoying.

- Q) How long have you been in the wine industry? A) I started making wine in 2011 but had worked in vineyards prior, also had made some pretty terrible bathtub chardonnay. 🛁 😂
- Q) What style of wines are you excited about? A) Most wine styles have a time for me, at the moment I'm loving Pinot Blanc based champagne, and always have time for bright fruit driven reds, that aren't simple but show depth.🍷
- Q) What excites you about working with Hill River Wines? A) To play around with an array of varieties and really hone in on what is best suited for the site. The flexibility to shift across blocks or varieties when challenging conditions arise. For example, this year we pivoted from Nero d'avola to Cabernet franc after the rain events and couldn’t be happier with the results. The team is also great to work with, a lot of positivity and excitement in the air. 🫶
- Q) What do you love about wine making? A) I love closing the loop from vine to bottle. you plant grapes, prune them every year and get a different raw product each year to work with

Whilst you can’t yet try Andrew’s work, make sure you are signed up to our newsletter to be the first to hear when they land: https://hillriverwines.com.au/pages/wine-club-sign-up.

Meet the man behind the vines: Farmer Rob! 🚜

As part of our 2026 Vintage Series, we couldn’t miss out on introducing you to Farmer Rob. Rob wears many hats around here, including:

🛡️ Frost Warrior 💧 Water Finder 🧠 Unofficial Counsellor 👑 ...and sometimes, the Boss.

We sat him down for a quick chat between rows:

Q: Years in the vines? A: Let’s just say he’s been farming the land longer than we’ve been keeping track. We’ll call it "timeless."

Q: Harvest Anthem? A: John Farnham – Pressure Down. 🎶

Q: Best part of Harvest? A: The wind-up with a glass of Port . 🍷

Q: Which of our wine varieties would you be? A: "A Sultana. I’m feeling a bit dehydrated, withered, and shrivelled after the drought!" ☀️

If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Rob, pop into Cellar Door and you’ll catch him around.

🍇 Harvest 2026: Done & Dusted!

That’s a wrap.. the 2026 Vintage at Hill River Wines is officially complete. A massive shoutout to the entire team for their hard work and late nights. 🍷

Speaking of the team, it’s about time we introduced you to a Hill River legend: Meet Dion.

For 16 years, Dion has been the man behind the wheel, ensuring our precious grapes make it safely from the vines to the winery. He’s seen nearly two decades of harvests, and we couldn't do it without him!

🚛 Get to know Dion:
- Harvest Anthem: If you hear "The Fireman" by George Strait blaring from the truck cab, you know Dion is nearby. 🎶

- Pro-Tip: He much prefers hauling grapes over hay—mostly because grapes aren't nearly as itchy! 🍇 > 🌾

For those wondering... we still have fabulous Rob to introduce you too - so keep an eye out.
