The Business Port Augusta Board, on behalf of our members and the wider business community, extends our sincere condolences to Carlene, Peter, Gavin, Annie and their families on the passing of Port Augusta Business Hall of Fame inductee Peter Martin.

Peter and Carlene were inducted into the Port Augusta Business Hall of Fame in 2016 in recognition of their longstanding contribution to local business. Their family business, P.A. & C.I. Martin, founded in 1964, has been a respected part of the Port Augusta business landscape for more than 60 years.

We also extend our thoughts to the many employees, past and present, who worked alongside Peter throughout the years.

Port Augusta was fortunate to have Peter as part of its story. Thank you, Peter, for all that you gave to our business community over so many years.

🖤 Vale Peter Martin.

💡 Safer Spaces Project – Business Improvement Grant 💡

Port Augusta City Council is proud to support local businesses through the Business Safety Improvement Grant Program.

Eligible businesses can apply for grants of up to $5,000 through a matched funding arrangement to help deliver practical safety improvements that:
✔ Reduce the risk of crime
✔ Improve safety for staff and customers
✔ Enhance business street appeal
✔ Strengthen the appearance of the town centre

The program is guided by Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and forms part of Council’s broader Safer Spaces Program.

Funding is reimbursed following completion and acquittal of approved works, with a total program budget of $80,000 available.

First step is your Expression of Interest (EOI). Please complete parts 1-9 of the online form on our Council website.

The EOI will then be assessed to determine if it meets the grant criteria with the key intent of increasing perceptions of safety or placemaking for staff, business operators, customers and the general public.

The first EOI assessment will occur by the end of June 2026.
