Grant funding helps transform a school playground.

The junior school courtyard at Chalmers Road School in Strathfield is now a vibrant space for students, with support from the 2025 NSW Ports Community Grants Program – offering students a colourful space in which to learn and play.

Through the annual Community Grants Program, projects like this can come to life. If your school or community group has an idea that would make a real difference, there’s still time to apply.

Chalmers Road School in Strathfield used its NSW Ports Community Grant to design a stunning new artwork which has brightened up its junior school playground.

Seeing the mural up close — and hearing the story behind it — is a powerful reminder of how local projects can create meaningful change for students and families.

Are you making a difference in your local community?

We want to help!

If your project supports education, health and wellbeing, economic development, environment, arts and culture, social welfare or emergency services – we want to hear from you.

Now in its sixth year, the NSW Ports Community Grants Program offers one-off grants of up to $25,000 each to support initiatives that make our communities better places to live, work and play. To date we have proudly funded more than 80 community projects – could yours be next?

In 2025, the program supported 17 community groups across Sydney and the Illawarra, from schools to neighbourhood organisations, helping them turn great ideas and initiatives into real-world impact.

We’re proud to share a new video featuring FoodLab Sydney, showcasing the real impact our NSW Ports Community Grants can have on local social enterprises.

With support from a 2025 NSW Ports grant, FoodLab has been able to expand opportunities for emerging food entrepreneurs to help them build skills, grow confidence and create pathways into sustainable small businesses.

And we’re excited to announce that our 2026 Community Grants Program is opening soon!

🎉 5 Years Strong – Thank You!

As we wrap up our 5th year of the NSW Ports Community Grants Program, we're proud to announce 17 more incredible community initiatives have received funding in 2025.

That brings us close to 80 local groups and projects supported since 2021 – a milestone made possible by the passionate individuals and groups who apply each year.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who applied this year. We're proud to support projects that make a real difference across our local communities. We look forward to seeing the impact these projects will create in the year ahead. 💙
