NAIDOC Week 2026!

This week, we celebrate National NAIDOC Week and recognise the rich history, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2026 theme, "50 Years of Deadly," celebrates the Elders, artists, organisers, and communities who have built and sustained the NAIDOC movement over the past five decades. It is a time to honour the strength, resilience, and contributions of First Nations peoples, while reflecting on the journey towards a stronger and more united future.

At WANT Pest Control, we are proud to live and work throughout the Pilbara on the traditional lands of Aboriginal peoples. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

We encourage everyone to take the opportunity this week to listen, learn, celebrate, and support the local events and communities that make the Pilbara such a special place.

Together, we celebrate 50 Years of Deadly and the generations of leadership, culture, and community that continue to inspire us all.

🐀 Why Do Rodents Love Mine Sites & Workshops? 🐀

Mine sites and workshops might seem like busy places, but to a rodent, they're the perfect places to call home.

Rodents are attracted to these environments because they provide everything they need to survive:

• 🍽️ Food scraps in lunchrooms, bins, and crib areas.
• 💧 Reliable water sources from taps, air conditioners, and equipment.
• 🏠 Warm shelter inside machinery, storage containers, workshops, and buildings.
• 📦 Plenty of hiding places amongst stored materials, pallets, and equipment.

Not only can rodents contaminate food and spread disease, but they can also cause expensive damage by chewing electrical wiring, insulation, hoses, and equipment. Leading to costly downtime and repairs.

Routine inspections and proactive pest management are the best ways to keep your workplace protected before a small problem becomes a major one.

If you want pest control, then you need WANT Pest Control.

National Reconciliation Week 2026

This year’s theme, “All In,” challenges all Australians to make reconciliation more than just a gesture. It’s about committing wholeheartedly to the journey through everyday actions, respectful conversations, and learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

At WANT Pest Control, we proudly acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands we live and work on throughout the Pilbara and beyond. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

Reconciliation is not a one-week conversation; it is an ongoing commitment to listening, learning, understanding, and building stronger connections within our communities.

We encourage everyone to take the time this week to reflect on what being “All In” for reconciliation can look like in our workplaces, homes, and communities.
